Paul May 09, 2012 for Model Number GE side by side TFX22ZRS I have located the evaporator fan and it is blowing a lot! I guess what I need to know is why aren't the heater coils heating up since I changed them. The elements are still shiny bright. They have never come on I'm sure. The bottom heater has 2" of frost on it. I have left the back "wall" out to watch for change...does this prevent the evaporator from pulling air up from the bottom of the freezer as if a duct? I am thinking yes so I am replacing the back "wall."
1 Answer Hello Paul. Advance the defrost timer WR9X489 to the defrost cycle and see if the heaters come on. If so, the timer is bad. If not, the defrost thermostat WR50X122 may be bad in the unit. It should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Paul May 08, 2012 for Model Number GE TFX22ZRS Where can I find the evaporator motor? Paul, You first need to check the freezer and refrigerator door seals, Make sure the door is sealed, especially at the bottom, Then check the evaporator fan motor AP2071792 and blade AP2071753, Either one could be faulty and not circulating the air properly. Thanks and Good Luck
