The Main Control Board Kit is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. This electronic control board manages various dishwasher functions, including water intake, temperature settings, wash cycles, and drying times. It's the brain behind the efficient operation of your dishwasher, ensuring that all components work in harmony for optimal cleaning results.

The primary causes of control board failure often involve power surges, moisture damage, or component wear and tear, which can disrupt the electrical pathways and circuits within the board.

Symptoms of a bad Main Control Board include:

  • Dishwasher failing to start or stopping mid-cycle
  • Unusual error codes displayed on the dishwasher panel
  • Non-responsive controls or settings that don’t change appropriately

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Joe, Check to see if there is damage to the wiring harness between the main board and the User interface. If there is not then the user interface will be the most likely cause for this issue.

Duane for Model Number GDT695SFL3DS

GE dishwasher, model#GDT695SFL3DS Serial # RH936274B was showing no lights on the buttons on the top of the door. No response. I pulled the unit away from the wall and the outlet it was plugged into (non gcfi) had a scorch mark on one of the pin connector slots, (Not the ground slot.) I plugged the washer into a working outlet and not response. I checked the control board and it had a steady green light, no blinking on the test led light. The service manual directed to replace the control board. I purchased and installed a brand new one and it is still showing no response on the buttons and again showing a steady green light on the test led on the control board. What should i do?

Duane, Based on the information provided I would check for loose wiring connections from the board to the user interface board. If wiring and connections are good and the main control board has been replaced then it is likely to be the user interface board.

Joseph, The 2 flashes every 3 seconds indicates that the unit is in a delay start and is waiting to start a cycle. The cycle should start once the delay expires. It is possible that there is an issue with the user interface if the unit never goes into the cycle.

Bob for Model Number GDF640HSM0SS

Had a technician out, he said my user interface board needed to be replaced. Got the new one, installed it nope, still doesn't work. Checked the machine control board, the light is flashing non stop. Manual says that it's a "software error, replace machine control board". new board installed. Still flashes non stop and the UIB still does not function at all. I can't run diagnostics, rest, nothing. Tried resetting by turning the breaker off waiting 2 mins and back on. What's next?

1 Answer

Bob, The flashing lights on the GE dishwasher could be the CSM has tripped. (Current Sense Module) This device is designed to trip if current leakage to ground is above 20mA ± 5mA is detected. The CSM functions similarly to commercially available GFCIs. This is located on the main control board and if it is tripped the cause is likely external to the board itself. The board should only be replaced after all other diagnostic tests have been completed and all other potential causes have been ruled out. Potential causes of current leakage to ground could be due to water leaking onto a live component, a component malfunction, or a fault within the wiring harness.

Bryan, The LED on constantly indicates standby and door closed. The flashing LED can stand for the board senses that the door or door switches are open. If the LED is flashing with a pattern this would indicate an error code has been detected and is described in the tech sheet supplied with the machine.

Simon, the main control flashing 2 times per 3 seconds would indicate that the delay wash has been activated. If the user panel has the delay LED illuminated, the delay button can be pressed until it is no longer illuminated. If it is not, the failure would likely be in the main control WD21X24900C.

Frank, You will want to check the door switches to make sure that they are good. If they are then check for a flashing light on the main control board and check the tech sheet on your unit to see what the flashing represents.

Shawna, if the user control is receiving voltage but does not illuminate, the failure would be in the user interface WD21X31902C. If it does illuminate, it would be recommended that the interface is checked to identify if the control lock is on. If it is, it can be de-activated by pressing and holding both the steam and the wash temp buttons until the lock LED turns off.
