Douglas S April 04, 2015 for Model Number kenmore 363.58257891 I see a lot of questions about getting crushed ice but no cubes. I have the opposite problem. Cubes but no crushed ice. When I push the switch for cubes the solenoid moves and the auger turns. When I move to the crushed switch the auger does not move. Is this a control board issue? Water also works fine.
1 Answer Douglas, The most likely cause for dispensing of cubes but no crushed would be the time delay module part number WR55X130. Read More...
Les A. January 27, 2015 for Model Number GSH22JFTA CC I recently replaced the solenoid assembly. I've noticed that the solenoid doesn't always activate. Is this normal operation? Should do the moving parts require lubrication? I can move the parts by hand, sometimes it takes moderate force.
1 Answer Hello Les, While it is not recommended to lubricate the solenoid since it could possibly find it's way into your drinks, it does help to lightly coat the steel arm with a food grade lubricant to displace moisture and prevent rust. Read More...
Jerry D January 02, 2015 for Model Number DSHS5PGXCESS I have ordered this solenoid due to the original ( WR62X0058 ) failing. The new parts pin has a hole and no slot for the location the original was in to fit it. And the mounting bracket is different and I don't see this fitting. Could you inform me of any installation changes? I've been told that the original has been discontinued so there may be changes.
1 Answer Jerry, Based on the description of the part you are needing, it sounds like you have gotten the wrong solenoid. The one that you received is for the crush/cube part of dispensing. It sounds like you are needing the dispenser solenoid which is part number WR62X10055. Read More...
John September 25, 2014 for Model Number PTC22SFMARBS Recently our ice maker wasn't dispensing ice, the auger motor was not turning, but the Crushed/Cubed Ice Solenoid was working. We dismantle the housing of both and tested for continuity, everything was fine, motor and solenoid worked when directly applied power from socket, but on refrigerator only one connected at one time worked . We tested solenoid only and motor only is this related to the board being bad? Cause sometimes either one when testing alone wouldn't work and changing between crushed ice or cubed, it would work. But both never work at same time.
1 Answer John, Based on the description the issue sounds like it would be caused by either the control board WR55X129 or a wiring issue within the cabinet. Would be more likely the control board. Read More...
Ken June 04, 2014 for Model Number zisw42dyb My question is in regard to the ice dispenser. The motor in the back doesn't rotate. The solenoid assembly seems to work fine and I think is unrelated. When I push the button I hear and see the solenoid arm assembly lift. I then just get a buzzing/humming sound, but the motor doesn't turn. The motor is not frozen and I can turn it w/o it feeling like it sticks or jams. I then took the motor out and tested it on my work bench by applied 110V to the 2 spade connectors and the motor works fine and does't act like it is meeting resistance at the motor or the gear box. I am at a loss. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ken K.
1 Answer Ken, You will want to check the motor coupler that goes into the ice bin to turn it and make sure that the coupler is not stripped on the motor shaft. If this is the case then the motor and the coupler would need to be replaced. It is also possible that the motor is weak and cannot turn the auger. Also check to make sure that there is nothing in the bin would cause the auger motor to bind. Read More...
Gary April 08, 2014 for Model Number TFX26CRDA WW Ice maker will not STOP making ice. pushes arm up but keeps on making, running over bucket. looks like a stop switch in there but cant find the part number.
Bob December 29, 2013 for Model Number GSHF5PGXAEWW I have been having trouble with my ice delivery system, which I believe is the old type which has apparently been re-designed. I replaced the helix blade(?) and augur nut because the unit was no longer feeding ice. The helix was "'free wheeling". It now feeds ice, but it will not crush - only cubes, in either crushed or cube mode. When I disassembled the unit again today, the augur nut had worked its way up the threaded shaft. The previous nut had done the same thing. I can't figure out why this is happening. Today, I epoxied the nut in place at the end of the shaft and re-assembled the unit. Now, I believe the dispenser solenoid has quit working. The arm and door are free (loose), and seem to be working properly, but the solenoid doesn't raise the arm. Please advise.
1 Answer Bob, Test to see that the solenoid is getting 120 vac to it when you hit the dispenser lever. If the solenoid is getting 120 vac then the solenoid is bad and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Jerrod November 30, 2013 for Model Number GE GSH25JSXBSS The ice maker will only dispense crushed ice, no cubes. After much research and watching DIY videos, I'm pretty sure the issue is the crushed ice solenoid. However, I cannot get to it because the auger motor housing that contains the solenoid has a tube attached to it that I cannot see how to remove. The housing has one screw on the left side and just sits in a groove on the right side. There is a wiring harness in addition to the tube. None of the videos show this particular model. Some of the Q&A address this particular model but none have any specifics about removing the housing. Can you supply step by step directions for removing that tube, and therefore, the housing?
1 Answer Hello Jerrod. Ice Dispenser Drive The ice dispenser drive turns the ice dispenser auger in either crushed or cube mode. 1. Remove 2 Phillips screws from the ice dispenser drive. 2. Slide the dispenser out until the cable connector is visible. 3. Disconnect the cable and remove the dispenser drive. Now you can access and replace the solenoid. Read More...
Gary September 10, 2013 for Model Number PSS25NGNAWW My ice dispenser only dispenses crushed ice. I took the unit apart and the solenoid was frozen. I thawed the relay out and it moved freely and reinstalled. It worked and dispensed cubes but had a very loud buzz coming from the solenoid. Within 2 days the solenoid froze again dispensing only crushed ice. Why would the solenoid keep freezing? I have had this fridge for 7 years running at the same temp, so nothing has changed. Will a new solenoid stop the freezing problem or is there something else that I am missing?
1 Answer Gary, Yes, a new solenoid will stop the freezing issue. You will want to look into air leaks getting into the unit that may cause freezing of the solenoid but most likely is just a bad solenoid WR62X23154. Read More...
Max September 09, 2013 for Model Number GSL25JFPBBS Is there an easy way to take out the pin that holds the solenoid plunger to the solenoid display collar. My stirrup solenoid connector cracked in two. Also my water and ice does not dispense what can be the cause of this. Also if its not easy to take out the pin is there any way to get the whole arm stirrup up and display with plunger as one piece?
1 Answer Max, To remove the pin you would want to have a small punch that you can tap the pin out a little then get ahold of with pliers and work it out. The solenoid cannot be gotten as a complete assembly. The dispenser not working you will first want to make sure that it is not in child lock. If not then you will want to check the lever to make sure that it is making contact with the switch. It could be a warped lever. If that checks ok then most likely the main control board would be at fault. Read More...
