John J January 07, 2013 for Model Number jvm1860sd001 Microwave quit heating. Found bad hv cap replaced it and hv transformer. Diode checked good with 120 volts applied. Magnetron reads .3 ohms and nothing to case ground. I think this reading is good but still think magnetron is bad any help appreciated.
1 Answer Hello John, You will want to check the magnet on the magnetron for cracks. The .3 ohm reading is good but if there is a cracked magnet then the magnetron will read good but not work. You will also want to check the thermal fuse on the magnetron to make sure that it is good. Read More...
Tj December 21, 2012 Hello, the other day there was a weird noise and smell coming from the microwave. I opened the front cover and noticed a burnt mark near the diode on the casing. I turned the microwave back on and the diode was burnt in two. I ordered a replacement diode and magnetron, put them both in the microwave. The microwave turns on with no noise or smell but it doesn't heat up.
1 Answer Hello TJ, You may want to test your thermal fuse on the magnetron for continuity. It is possible that the thermal fuse went bad as well and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Tj December 15, 2012 for Model Number HDM1853SJ102 Hello, the other day there was a weird noise and smell coming from the microwave. I opened the front cover and noticed a burnt mark near the diode on the casing. I turned the microwave back on and the diode was burnt in two. I ordered a replacement diode and turned it back on with the same issue. I wanted to know would a bad magnetron or capacitor would cause the diode to blow. Thanks
1 Answer Hello TJ. Based on the information you provided, the magnetron WB27X10735 is bad and will need to be replaced. Test the magnetron. It should read less than 1 ohm and should read open to ground. If bad, replace it. Read More...
Sonny December 14, 2012 I have a ge spacemaker microwave oven (JVM3670SF02) and it started to smell electrical burnt every i start it. Opened the side panel and fired-up the mcirowave and witnessed big sparks coming out from the terminals of the magnetron. Tested with ohmeter and read...1.6 ohms. Also tested the diode, not getting any reading (open on both sides). Is this common that if you have a bad diode, it will eventually ruin the magnetron ? can you please provide part number for both diode and magnetron for my unit ? thanks, Sonny
1 Answer Hello Sonny. WB27X10735 is the magnetron and WB27X1160 is the diode for the unit. Read More...
Paul H December 07, 2012 for Model Number Wes 1130 dm2bb Microwave has. A chemical smell when heating. Continues to heat, however
1 Answer Hello Paul, The smell may be coming from something that was put into the microwave. The unit itself does not have anything that would emit a chemical odor. Read More...
Scott December 07, 2012 for Model Number jvm1340ww002 Is there a way to tell if the magnatron is bad and are these tough to find on the unit and replace. Thanks for your help. Oh what is the generic diode for TJ2M217JB
1 Answer Hello Scott. The magnetron should read less than 1 ohms. You need to order part number WP13091701 for the diode. Read More...
Scott December 07, 2012 for Model Number JVM1340WW002 What is the correct number for the magnatron and is the offbrand one mentioned tj2m217jb ok to use and what is the difference
1 Answer Hello Scott. TJ2M217JB is a good magnetron for the unit. The difference is the manufactures of the units. Read More...
Scott December 07, 2012 for Model Number JVM1340WW002 The microwave still turns and runs but it has a wierd smell and does not heat. Will just the magnatron solve the issue or will I need the diode as well, how hard are these for the layman to install?
1 Answer Hello Scott. If it is the magnetron that is bad, you will need to replace the diode with the magnetron. Read More...
Dm November 15, 2012 for Model Number jvm1860 bf001 Does part number wb27x10249 fit GE model jvm1860 bf001 microwave?
1 Answer Hello Dm. Yes, based on the model number you provided, WB27X10735 is the correct magnetron. Read More...
Elizabeth September 21, 2012 for Model Number GE J VM230 001 This was made in 1995. I have never had a problem with it until the other day when I pushed start button and I got a very loud bang and, while it still worked, it didn't heat the food. Is this the megnetron tube and is it worth replacing? Should I just buy a new microwave?
1 Answer Hello Elizabeth. You will need to remove the magnetron WB27X10735 and test it. Also, look for burnt places. It should test less than 1 ohm. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
