1 Answer Kit, A magnetron should have approximately 1/2 ohm of resistance. If it is showing 0 it would be defective. Read More...
Need Help October 26, 2020 for Model Number JVM1870SK03 Fuse/s blow. All 3 door switches ok, Magnetron measures 1.6 ohms, Capacitor checks ok, and diode checks ok with 9V battery test. Thermostat sensors are ok. Before the fuses blow, the lights and panel work ok, the fan goes on, and table turns, then then fuse/s blow after about 10 seconds. Fuses are Buss 20Amp. No loose wires. This is an over-the-range GE Spacemaker XL1800. Unit built 2006. Initially, it ran but no heat, now fuses blow. Thanks for reading this.
1 Answer Hello NH, based on the symptom and the checks already performed it seems the oven is drawing too much power when heating, this would indicate a problem in the high voltage section. most likely it is the magnetron, which likely has an internal short occurring when it is powered with high voltage. The magnetron is part WB27X10880. Read More...
Don February 26, 2019 for Model Number JGB915WEF2WW The left front burner doesn't spark when lighting. The left rear burner sparks but slowly. The right burners are OK. Do you think it is the spark module or the individual sparkers. I tried cleaning them.
1 Answer Don, you can check the spark ignitors for continuity, you may also want to check the wiring for continuity to be sure that there are no breaks in the wiring. It is possible that the module itself is the issue but you will want to check the ignitors and wiring first. You may also want to check to ensure that the switch is sending voltage to the module. Don February 26, 2019 for Model Number JVM1650WH01 The microwave works fine but makes a noise on the right side behind the control panel. That is where the transformer and magnetron are located I think. It is not the squirrel cage fan.
1 Answer Don, you may want to check the transformer and magnetron, as well as the capacitor diode after discharging the capacitor. You may also want to check for any loose components. A lot of times, if the microwave is making a loud humming noise, the diode could be the culprit but normally when it fails the unit will not heat. Read More...
Dick February 14, 2019 Why would the magnetron and diode parts that according to you cost with tax 300.00 be replaced when you can buy a brand new one of the same model for 200.00?
1 Answer Hello Dick, As a parts distributor, we sell parts whose retail prices are dictated by the appliance manufacturers. As repair technicians, we recommend that if the repair cost is in excess of half of the cost of the appliances' replacement, to carefully make the decision for yourself whether to repair or replace. This is entirely up to the customer. After all, it is their appliance and their money. In light of your statement, we would recommend replacing the microwave since it would be the most economical solution to the problem. Read More...
Dottie November 27, 2018 for Model Number JVM1752DP1WW This microwave is 6 years old It will not heat up but the light is on when pressing the l min. button is sounds like it is running but it is not heating up. Try different buttons and anothing heats up. We have a 10 warranty with a financial company thru the store when purchased. They will pay for only the magnotron if it is that. We have to pay for all other expenses to find out first what is the problem. What is the cost of the magnotron itself.
1 Answer Dottie, You would want to check to make sure that the door switches are good as this would be the most likely cause for this issue. You could test the magnetron for less than 1 ohm of resistance and if does not have less than 1 ohms then this will be a faulty magnetron. Read More...

Sam February 13, 2018 for Model Number GE JVM3670BF02 This is an over the range microwave oven connected with the vertical duct. It recently failed to produce heat when turned on and it was suggested that it might be due to faulty Magnetron. Please, how do I replace the Magnetron and is this something that I can do without requesting the service of a professional?
1 Answer Sam, In order to replace the magnetron you will need to pull the unit down from the cabinet and remove the outer casing of the microwave. Then you will be able to access the magnetron and replace it. Read More...
Tim April 14, 2016 for Model Number jvm1650AB When I turn on the micorwave is sounds much louder then before and it does not heat up the food. If it is the magnatron, how hard is that to replace? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Tim. You most likely have a "high voltage" side malfunction. Transformer, diode, magnetron, Capacitor. You will need to be extremely careful if you decide to test the components with a multi meter, Very high residual voltage is present, so make sure you remove power to the microwave and short across the terminals on the capacitor. The magnetron should have a reading of less than 1 ohm resistance across the two terminals, and an "open" circuit between each terminal and chassis ground. The diode/rectifier should have a resistance reading in one direction only, no resistance, or resistance in both directions indicate a faulty diode. The primary winding on the trans former should read approximately 450 Ohms resistance, the secondary winding should read 80 ohms resistance, and the filament transformer should read 100 ohms resistance. If all the readings are proper and in range, replace the magnetron. Read More...
Jeff S March 15, 2016 for Model Number MCD1311ST This microwave heats fine but goes dead after a minute or two. Then, after about five more minutes, it works again. The cooling fan is running fine. I do not see any heat sensor near the magnetron and no leads that could go to one. It really does act like an overheating issue, what causes the unit to shutdown? It goes completely dead, even the display goes dark.
1 Answer Jeff, There would most likely be a thermostat in the unit that would be causing this issue. Unfortunately the manufacturer does not list a wiring diagram or any parts other than a turntable motor or a light bulb that would be available for this unit. Read More...
