Manufacturer Part Number: WH22X38441C

This main control board is the washer's central electronic brain, coordinating cycles, motor and valve operation, and safety checks. Replacing a failed board can restore normal starts, fills, agitation/spin, and reliable cycle completion.

  • Manages cycle timing and power to the drive motor, drain pump, and water inlet valves
  • Monitors inputs from the lid lock and other sensors for safe, accurate operation
  • Interfaces with the user controls to run the selected wash program
  • Typical failure symptoms: won't start or power up; no fill/agitate/spin/drain; stops mid-cycle; error codes or unresponsive controls
What's included: 1 main control board assembly Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing and handle the board with ESD protection
  • Access the control at the top/rear area, transfer connectors one at a time to the same positions, and secure the board in the original mounting
  • After installation, restore power and run the unit's diagnostic/service mode to verify operation; some models may require a configuration/personality step per the tech sheet

Brian, Thank you for your question. The recommendation is get the tech sheet from inside the unit and put it into service diagnostics to see if there are any error codes.Error codes will guide you to what to check to see what may be going on. With the issues you are dealing with, this sounds like it may be a control issue but do the diagnostics first.

Hello Jim and thank you for your question. Based on the information provided, it sounds like there is a control failure. If there are no error codes, the main control WH22X38441C would be the most likely cause of failure.

Leroy, if there is not an error code found when entered into the consumer error mode (cycle status LED on, cycle knob at the 12 o'clock position, the start button can be held down for 10 seconds and all of the LEDs should turn on followed by an error code being identified), then the main control WH22X38441C would be the most likely cause of failure.

Jim, if the clutch gear is able to move smoothly by hand and there are no loose or broken wires, it is likely that the main control WH22X38441C is not sending voltage to the shift actuator.

Susan, it would be recommended that the water valve WH13X26534 be tested for 120 Volts AC when it is failing to fill. If voltage is present, the valve would need to be replaced. If there is not voltage, the pressure hose would need to be checked for any partial clogs. If it is clear, the main control WH22X38441 would be the cause of failure as it supplies voltage to the valves and has the pressure switch built into it.

Tim, if the washer does not go out of balance and no parts are loose, the main control WH22X38441C would need to be checked for error codes through the diagnostic mode. If there are no error codes found, the main control would be the cause of failure.

Hello Tim, thank you for contacting APP, The unit may be stuck in an emergency drain mode. If the Drain Pump WH23X28418 fails the unit will stay in this mode until the issue is resolved. If you are familiar with the usage of a multimeter I would suggest unplugging the unit and accessing the drain pump to take a reading. The pump should read about 13.2O resistance. If the pump is not reading within about +/-2O of 13.2O it will need to be replaced. *Note* If the drain pump is the issue, it is likely that the unit will go into a drain cycle for up to 20 minutes, allow the unit to complete this cycle. If the drain pump is in range, I would suspect an issue with the Main Control WH22X38441C.

Hello Debbie, thank you for contacting APP, The Main Control WH22X38441C is effectively the "timer" on models that use it, but it does not operate in exactly the same manner as a timer. The Main Control takes readings and information from other components to determine when it needs to advance further into a cycle, it may be that it is seeing or not seeing something that is preventing it from advancing due to an issue with another component.
