The Ice Auger Motor is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It powers the auger that moves ice from the ice maker into the dispenser, allowing for smooth and efficient ice dispensing. Functioning at 115V, 60 Hz, and 3.2 Amps, it is crucial for the operation of the ice dispenser.

You should replace this ice auger motor if it fails due to wear and tear, electrical issues, or mechanical damage. A malfunctioning motor can result in the ice not dispensing properly, or the motor may make unusual noises indicating it’s struggling to function.

Symptoms of a bad ice auger motor include:

  • Ice not dispensing from the refrigerator
  • Grinding or buzzing noises from the ice dispenser
  • Auger not turning or moving ice
  • Intermittent or no ice flow

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Ge Ice Auger Motor (Part Number: OEM13011873)

1 Answer

Mike, If you are not dispensing ice when the auger motor is making the noise then yes, it sounds like there would be an issue with the auger motor. Make sure that the noise is not the icemaker that is making it and if it is then the icemaker would be the issue.

Robert, it would be recommended that the auger motor WR60X10258 is tested for 120VAC when the dispenser is being activated for ice. This can be done directly at the auger motor with the door switch taped closed, or at the main control (with the door closed) testing the beige wire at connection J7 pin 1 to the orange wire at J7 pin 9. If there is 120VAC, the auger motor has failed and would need to be replaced (as long as there is not an ice block in the ice bin). If there is not 120VAC, the main control WR55X10942C would be the likely cause.

Hello, The ice dispenser has stopped working. The ice maker works, but today I've noticed that cubed ice has stopped working completely. I hear a click with a suffering sound kinda, but that's pretty much it. The ice crusher had stopped working a while ago, but I just left it like that. When working, pretty much cubed ice would come through when crushed ice was selected. Since earlier today, crushed ice is completely silent when pressed and cubed ice just does not work any longer. Just yesterday, I had replaced the heating element as it was faulty and caused the coils to get frozen up. I tried to rotate the auger blade manually but it does not move at all. I pressed on the door switch, then pressed on cubed ice, and can see where the auger is just static. Will this be a sign that auger motor failed on me? Perhaps any other component I should check before digging with the motor. I would appreciate your input on this matter. Thank you and I look forward for your reply.

Rocky, Remove the ice bin from the freezer and have someone press the dispenser to see if anything is running (don't forget to press the door switch in while this is happening). If the motor runs you will see the fork at the back rotating and if not the problem is likely the auger motor/gearbox assembly. WR60X10258

Hello Duane, if the ice chute flapper opens but the auger motor is not running when selecting ice dispense then replace the rear main board WR55X10942C as it powers the auger motor.

Hello Lois, you'll want to verify that your motor WR60X10262 is actually running when you press in on the actuator pad. If you can hear it turning, take the bucket out and check the auger driver part number WR2X4854 to make sure its not stripped out and not turning. Hope this helps!
