The Ice Auger Motor is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It powers the auger that moves ice from the ice maker into the dispenser, allowing for smooth and efficient ice dispensing. Functioning at 115V, 60 Hz, and 3.2 Amps, it is crucial for the operation of the ice dispenser.

You should replace this ice auger motor if it fails due to wear and tear, electrical issues, or mechanical damage. A malfunctioning motor can result in the ice not dispensing properly, or the motor may make unusual noises indicating it’s struggling to function.

Symptoms of a bad ice auger motor include:

  • Ice not dispensing from the refrigerator
  • Grinding or buzzing noises from the ice dispenser
  • Auger not turning or moving ice
  • Intermittent or no ice flow

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

For Ge Ice Auger Motor (Part Number: OEM13011873)

Tara for Model Number ZFSB23DRBSS

Hello. We have a GE Monogram side by side refrigerator. The ice maker is making ice but when you press on the ice dispenser, there is. I sound or ice coming out. The odd thing is that the water is not coming out either. The lights on the board work to switch from ice to water. We have had many issues with the water line freezing over the years and GE has told us that it’s just a fault with the model and a poorly insulated door. We leave the light on to help prevent water freezing. I mention this because I had to use the quick ice function the other day and then this happened. Wondering if it could be frozen motor or something else frozen. Any thoughts? Do you think we just need to replace the auger motor? Thanks

Tara, Inside the dispenser housing, you have a microswitch that when the paddle is depressed it touches the switch and sends voltage to whatever your wanting [ice or water]. I would get into that housing and make sure the tabs that hold the microswitch are not broke and not allowing the paddle to activate.

When I dispense both crushed and cubed ice I get a grinding noise - similar to the question asked by Arnie on pg 3 of Q & A. I removed the bin and ran the auger motor by itself with no grinding noise. I emptied the bin and replaced the bin and got the same noise in both cubed and crushed mode. The bypass door on the cubed/crushed ice appears to be functioning normally. No other issues with water, light or even getting ice - all normal except for grinding in ice modes. Replaced the auger about 6 months ago without any issues.

Hello Mark. The door switch has to be closed for the motor to run. It will run without the bucket, but you can not run it with the door open. Thank you.

Allen, With the auger motor not running you will want to check to see if there is power to it. If there is not then this would most likely be a bad main control board.

Hello Ronald. It could have been where the old one burnt out on the unit and it caused the smell. Very common. The new motor shouldn't smell.

Dj for Model Number PSC23NSTESS

I have had to replace the drive cup and auger nut on my ref. 3 times in the past 2 or 3 years. The ice maker works fine, but dispenser has given me all the problems. When it stopped working this time, I decided to order a whole new bin and auger. It came today and I just put it in. Ice dispensed, but not very well. It then began to make a noise like something was banging against the side of the bin. It always seems to make this noise before it stops dispensing. So, I took the bin out and noticed that the drive cup and the new bin are been chewed and scrapped up. Help! I just spent a bundle on this new bin!

DJ, It sounds like the issue with this bin would be that the bin may not have been in properly. Also check to make sure that the bin is mating with the auger coupler properly.

Art, You will want to pull the bin out and check to see if the noise is still present with the bin out. If it is then this would be a issue with the auger motor which is part number 12001773.

Hello Dave. No, some models do not use the rubber cover over the motors. If your model does not have one then your model does not need one.
