The Nut Hub is an OEM replacement part for GE top-load washing machines. This component plays an integral role during the spin cycle, transmitting rotational force from the motor to the tub for the removal of water from clothes. The Nut Hub connects directly to the drive shaft and incorporates several mounting points to securely join additional drum parts.

Causes of a bad Nut Hub can include cracks, fractures, or stripped threads due to overloading or excessive strain during spinning. Loose or ineffective connections between the Nut Hub and other components impair power transmission.

Symptoms of a bad Nut Hub include:

  • Vibrations or shaking during the spin cycle
  • Noisy or grinding sounds
  • Incomplete water removal, resulting in soggy clothes
  • Failure of the tub to rotate

This OEM GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Ge Nut Hub (Part Number: OEM15918981)

Aaron for Model Number GTUP240EM5WW

1) I had to replace the tub seal, after it had been glued to the plastic drum. I had also found a part that was not diagram explosion--a soft 3 inch gasket that's about 1/2 an inch think that sat right on top of the seal. I'm not quite sure if I should put this back on. 2) In addition, when I put the drum back on the shaft, and put the hub washer on, and screw the nut back on, I'm left with about a 3/4 inch gap. So the nut is not snug to the hub washer. What am I missing?

1 Answer

Aaron, Double-check installation because there should not be a gap with the hub nut. We are not aware of the gasket that you located but there should not be a gasket on top of the seal that we are aware of.

Hello Phillip. Use some rust buster or PB Blaster and soak the unit for about 2 hours or until you can remove it. Sometimes these can be very difficult to remove.

Jody, It sounds like the issue will be that when the unit goes to the spin cycle, the wax motor that actuates for the spin is not working and causing the unit to not go into the spin and causing the motor to overheat.
