Chris July 21, 2014 for Model Number JGBC20WEH1WW My model of stove has an electric ignition. The cook-top burners work great, but the oven does nothing when you turn it on. I have not smelled any gas, nor do I see any sparks from the ignitor. I read the owners manual and it said to check to make sure the oven gas shut off valve had not been bumped, so I checked it and it was on. What should I check next?
1 Answer Chris, Your unit has a glow bar ignition and you will need to check the igniter with the oven on to see if there is 120 vac getting to the igniter. If there is 120 vac and the igniter is not glowing then the igniter is faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Anna February 15, 2014 for Model Number JGBS22BEA2WH I want to shut off gas only to the oven. I am renovating the kitchen and don't want to spend the bucks replacing the oven thermostat. I only need the burners to cook on. What do I disconnect to safely shut off gas to the oven portion of the stove.
1 Answer Anna, Unfortunately there is not a way to shut the gas off to the oven only. In order to shut the gas off to the oven you would need to shut the gas off to the entire appliance. You are able to remove the wires and tape them off which will not allow the oven to operate. Read More...
Joe December 29, 2013 for Model Number 362.72191891 Forgot How the wires came off the gas valve does it matter?
1 Answer Hello Joe, If it matters on a safety valve the connectors will be different. If they are identical and will plug into either connector, it will not make a difference. Read More...

1 Answer Hello Glovman0. With the igniter turned on, you should have 3.2 to 3.6 vac at the valve. If so, and no gas, valve is bad. If it is low or high, igniter is bad in the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Mike May 01, 2013 for Model Number JGBS12GER5WH I recently replaced the igniter that went out in my ge stove. It lit and worked normally. After i shut it off, there is a gas smell. Tracked the gas leak to the safety valve. Is it possible that I damaged it with the wrong igniter? I couldn't find one that specifically said it was for my model number, so I got the one that looks the same and came up when i entered my model #. If so do I need a new igniter and gas valve, and what are the part #'s for my model?
1 Answer Hello Mike. No, it just sounds like the valve is bad and will need to be replaced. The igniter should not damage the valve on the unit. Read More...
