Gas Burner Trouble August 13, 2012 for Model Number WB19K31 REPLACED IGNITER AND SAFTEY CONTROL VALVE. OVEN IS LP. IGNITER AND VALVE COMES ON BUT BURNER HAS TO MUCH FLAME COMING OUT. IS THERE AND ADJUSTMENT FOR FLAME.
1 Answer Gas Burner, Did you remember to adjust the safety valve orifice down 2 1/2 to 3 turns clockwise, when you replacd it. If the range is set for LP gas and you did not adjust the orifice down to the LP pin (in the valve) the burner flame will be too large, and will probably produce soot in the oven. Thanks Read More...
Gas Trouble August 13, 2012 for Model Number WB19K31 REPLACED SAFTEY CONTROL VALVE. GAS COMES ON BUT TO MUCH FLAME.
1 Answer Hello. The gas valve WB19K31 is set for natural gas. You need to check and amke sure the correct type of gas is being supplied to the valve and if not, adjust for the correct type of gas. Read More...
Vewtepos July 11, 2012 for Model Number RGB532BEA4CT My oven will not light. I have gas to the top burner and it lights up, but no gas to oven burner. The igniter comes on but no flames and no gas. Could it be the oven safety valve? Or Regulator? Thank you!
1 Answer Vewtepos,Your igniter may glow, but it may not produce the correct amperage draw(3.2 to 3.6 amps) or low voltage (3.2 to 3.6 VAC) to the safety valve so it will open. Based on your post, it sounds like you have a weak igniter WB13K21 and need to test it or replace it. Thanks Read More...
Charlie February 23, 2012 for Model Number jgss05bew2bb I replaced the ignitor and the burner on my (LP) gas GE range. It seems like nothing is happening at all when I turn on the oven. No ignitor glow and no gas either. Does this indicate the oven control knob is bad? Once again, I am scratching my head!
1 Answer Hi Charlie. You need to use the volt / ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to check at the safety valve part # WB19K31 for 2.6-3.0 vac while calling for bake. If you have it there you need to replace the safety valve. If the voltage is low you have a weak igniter or bad wire connection. Make sure all connections are tight. Thank You. Read More...
Rosss January 31, 2012 for Model Number rgb526pea5wh I just bought a new ignitor element and installed because the other was in pieces...I threw a breaker beforehand and I think that is where my problem started...I am not getting any electricity to my new element but the valve is. Is it my valve thats the problem or possibly my control knob? Thanks for your time.
1 Answer Hello Rosss. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the clock assembly WB27T10469 may be bad and is not sending power to the igniter. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Dave F. December 15, 2011 for Model Number JGBS20WEW2WW We smell gas which seems to be from down around the "pilot lighter" though it is electric. When I turn on the oven, the ingitor glows and soon the gas comes and lights the burner as it should - and it seems to turn off ok also - but there still is a lingering gas smell - I have checked all visable connections with soap bubble solution and not the tinest bubble appears - I suspect the gas to the oven burner is not turning off completely or a leak in that vecinity. There does not seem to be any leaking around the top burners and all work correctly. What do you suggest might be failing or leaking? The safety valve??? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Dave. Yes, based on the information you provided, if the gas is coming out of the safety valve, you will need to replace the valve WB19K31. It sounds like the seal in the valve has gone bad. Hope this helps. Read More...
John November 28, 2011 for Model Number jgbs07pea2ww I replaced the thermostat because the oven would not heat at the selected temperature on the dial, ie: if I select 350 degrees on the dial of the thermostat the oven only heats to about 200 degrees. Is the problem a bad thermostat or the valve sticking?Did GE sent me a bad thermostat and how do you check if the thermostat is bad? I am trained in electronics, John
1 Answer Hello John. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve WB19K31. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter WB13K21 will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Vince November 25, 2011 for Model Number JGBC20BEW2AD Sent question 2 days ago and haven't recieved response. Was my question received or do I need to re submit?
1 Answer Vince, It doesn't sound like a safety valve issue, at this point. Have you checked the safety valve orifice for a possible clog, and the air shutter assembly should be 3/4 to full open for proper fuel/air mix and ignition. What about the cooktop burners, do they ignite and burn properly, and is the range supplied with Natural gas or LP Gas ? Let us know, so we can assist you with other reccomendations. Thanks Read More...
Ted October 25, 2011 for Model Number RGB535BEA1AD Starting to think maybe I should of just bought new range instead of having new problem arise every time I solve one. Installed new safety valve and constant leak stopped, but now the flame is way to hot and does not seem to be any adjustment even by adjusting air shutter.
1 Answer Hello Ted. Is the stove natural gas, or LP. If it is LP, you will have to convert the saftey valve WB19K31 to LP. Hope this helps. Read More...
Ted October 20, 2011 for Model Number RGB535BEA1AD My electronic control board came today and I changed it. The oven now does go to shut off when it gets up to temprature or you turn it to off. Except there is still a small amount of gas coming through and does not shut off entirely. Does this mean there is also a bad safety valve?
1 Answer Hello Ted. Yes, if the valve does not fully close, then the safety valve WB19K31 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
