Masapell April 15, 2013 for Model Number PTS22LCSARWW I am trying to troubleshoot a unit that has not been cooling (freezer and fridge section) a couple of times out of the past two weeks. The unit is in a staff kitchen that is used by multiple employees, so my first task is to rule out "user error", like a door that was left open. Since it has happened twice, I suspect something might be up. The fans were both running when I first checked the unit, but the compressor and coils were completely cool to the touch. The compressor was not running at all. I removed the relay and everything seemed fine with it. After visually inspecting a few other items, I put the relay back in and plugged the unit in. It seemed to run for a little while, but then cycled off. When I went back to check after about an hour or so, the unit was running and cooling everything back down. The unit has digital temperature displays for both fridge and freezer and both appear to be working fine. Where should I go from here? I did measure voltage on the relay while the unit was running and was around 144 volts. Would this potentially be a relay that is going out or something related to the capacitor or overload switch?
1 Answer Hello masapell. If there is voltage to the relay, and it does not run, then it is a relay issue. If there is no voltage there, then the control is bad and will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
John April 02, 2013 for Model Number 1995 GE Monogram 42" Side by Side ZIS42NWA The compressor relay that I received has only prongs for 2 &3. Original has prongs for 1, 2, 3. US Pat #4241370 Other:8EA 403 01 K5R Made in Mexico Parts list shows WR07X10051 Doesn't seem like correct part.
1 Answer John, Based on the model number this relay is the correct part for your unit. Based on the wiring schematic, it shows that there are only 3 wire connections for the overload and the relay. Red which goes to the overload, black which goes to the start side of the relay number 3 terminal and orange goes to terminal number 2. Read More...

Barry December 08, 2012 for Model Number GTH22SBRARBS My GE refrigerator/top freezer runs continuously but the freezer section does not freeze. Both freezer and refrigerator seem to be about 40 degrees. The fans are running but I dont think compressor is turning on. Can you tell me what causes this and if there is a way for me to check it before I buy parts? Thanks, Barry
1 Answer Hello Barry, Pull the unit out from the wall and unplug it. Remove the bottom rear cover and take the device off of the side of the compressor. If it rattles when you shake it, the start relay WR07X26748 has failed and needs to be replaced. Read More...
Herb R November 10, 2012 for Model Number DTS 181 CR DR WW The ice maker makes ice but very slowly is there a control to make it go faster.
1 Answer Hello Herb, You may want to check your freezer temperature. This icemaker should cycle approximately every 2 hours as long as the temperature is correct. If temperature checks ok you may want to check to make sure icemaker is getting proper water. Without proper water flow it will take longer to make ice and fill up bin. Read More...
