The Idler Pulley is an OEM component specifically designed for GE dryers. As part of the drum assembly, the idler pulley helps drive the rotation of the drying drum. It works closely with the belt and motor pulley to spin the drum and tumble clothes during the drying cycle.

Causes of a bad idler pulley can include wear and tear of moving parts over time, loose or worn belts that cause added strain, or damage from sticking or jamming during operation. 

Symptoms of a bad idler pulley include:

• The dryer drum not spinning or tumbling clothes
• Loud grinding or squealing noises coming from inside the dryer
