The Left Rod & Spring Assembly is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This assembly is designed to support and stabilize the washing machine tub during the wash and spin cycles. The rod and spring work together to absorb shocks and vibrations, ensuring smooth operation and reducing noise.

Over time, the left rod and spring assembly can become worn out or damaged. Causes of a bad assembly can include regular wear and tear, heavy or unbalanced loads, or damage from impacts. A faulty rod and spring assembly can lead to increased vibrations, noise, and instability during operation.

Symptoms of a bad Left Rod & Spring Assembly include:

  • Excessive shaking or vibrating during the wash or spin cycles
  • Loud banging or thumping noises
  • The washing machine tub being off-balance or misaligned
  • The washer moving or "walking" during operation

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Warren for Model Number GTW330ASK2WW

My washer makes a lot of noise during agitation. (There are various sqeaks and thumps, and after few minutes into the cycle it becomes a loud scraping/screeching sound) It also is not properly spinning. It will spin...but doesn't reach the full acceleration and the clothes are still wet. I have to manually stop the load or it will keep refilling with water trying to balance itself. I am not getting any fault codes. The drum doesn't make noise when I manually turn it...only during the cycle. Will replacing the suspension rods fix this issue? What other parts could be causing these problems?

1 Answer

Warren, it would be recommended that the spin basket is removed to inspect for any debris. If it is clear, the next step would be removing the drive belt and running a spin cycle test. If the noise does not continue, the failure is in the gearcase WH03X33729.
