The Lower Door Gasket is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. This gasket is for creating a tight seal around the dishwasher door to prevent water from leaking out during cycles.

Symptoms of a bad Lower Door Gasket include:

  • Visible cracks or wear on the gasket.
  • Water leakage around the dishwasher door.
  • Frequent puddles forming under the door during operation.
  • Dampness along the edges of the door after a wash cycle.

Causes of a bad door gasket can include regular wear and tear from use, improper door alignment, excessive cleaning chemicals that degrade the material, or thermal damage from high-temperature cycles.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Shay, You would need to order WD31X29643 to get the lower door seal. You should check that the unit is not overfilling and there are no clogged holes in any of the spray arms before replacing this part since this would put a "wave" in the water, causing the water to slosh over the bottom of the tub. The lower "gasket" does not perfectly seal but serves as a splash guard. The lower door is not perfectly "sealed" because it is used as an air inlet for the dry cycle.
