This surface burner spark electrode creates the electric arc that lights the gas at the burner. Replacing a worn electrode restores consistent, reliable ignition.

  • Generates a high-voltage spark at the burner head to ignite gas
  • Helps ensure quick, repeatable lighting when the knob is turned to Lite
  • Common symptoms: burner won't light, intermittent or weak spark, delayed ignition, lights only with a match
  • If other burners spark normally, the affected burner's electrode is a common culprit
What's included: 1 spark electrode Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and shut off gas before servicing
  • Handle the ceramic insulator carefully to avoid cracking
  • Match the new electrode's tip position and gap to the original; transfer mounting hardware as needed
  • Route the ignition wire away from heat/sharp edges, ensure a firm connection, then reassemble and test ignition

Questions & Answers

For Ge Spark Electrode (Surface Burner) (Part Number: OEM18096360)

Lewis, Installing new electrodes should not have had an effect on the oven operation. You will want to make sure that there was nothing that got disconnected on this issue. As for the electrodes not work you will want to test the ignition switches to make sure that they have continuity in the light position and if they do not they are faulty. If the switches check ok then the issue will be a faulty spark module.

Lewis, first check and remove power to the range, check and make sure there aren't any loose wires or connections at the spark module, if all's OK, replace the spark module WB20K5037.

Del, The most likely cause for the issue of the unit continuing to click when the burner is lit would be a faulty ignition switch on the burner valve.

Luiz, You will want to check the spark electrodes to make sure that they are not cracked or damaged. Also check the continuity of the spark switches in the light position. If there is continuity then the switch is good. Most likely the issue will be caused by a faulty spark module.

Kenny, This is normal operation for the type and brand of range you have. " Sparking will occur at both electrodes regardless of which valve is in the "lite" position. "

Hello Daniel. Check and see if the igniter is glowing in the unit. If it is not, you will need to test for power to the igniter and replace it if it is bad. If it does glow, then Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Raj. If none of the burners are working, you may have an issue with the pressure regulator or the gas supply to the unit. You will need to check the pressure.
