Joe October 01, 2011 for Model Number JGSP44AEV1AA Thanks for explaining how to test the unit. I still need an answer as to how to get the top off to access the switch and valve on this unit. Is the top held on by the burner plates? Take off the burner plates, unplug the igniter tip's wire and then the top lifts off? Also, is the spark control module on the back of the unit? I don't see it inside, under the top, through the burner plate opening. Thanks.
1 Answer Hi Joe. Remove power. Remove door. Remove the end caps off the control panel. Remove knobs. Remove the 4- screws under the control panel. Access and remove the top panel screws. The switches are set on the burner shaft. They will pull off the shafts one by one. This is part # WB24T10071. Thank you. Read More...
Joe September 30, 2011 for Model Number GE JGSP44AEV1AA Will this switch cause the surface burner igniter tip to spark? I thought the tip needed to be replaced and that didn't work. If I turn on any other burner, all of the tips spark and then I can turn the gas on the defective one on and the burner lights. All of the igniter wires go back to the same firing module and they all spark, so I'm assuming that the switch on that valve needs to be changed to get it to work independently of the others. Am I correct? If so, I'll order the switch and change it out. If you have a diagram that shows how to access the switch for replacement, that would be helpful. In the absence of a diagram, I think that if I take all 4 burner plates off of the top, the top should lift up on this unit. Correct? Thanks for your assistance.
1 Answer Hello Joe. You can test the switch WB24T10071 for continuity. It should read closed when turned on. If it is good, you will need to replace the spark module WB13K25. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Sabe July 01, 2011 for Model Number GE Profile JGP336 I just talked to an agent of your company and she said you requested a model of the cooktop. It is JGP336. Please respond shortly. Thanks, Sabe.
1 Answer Hi Sabe.I have tried to research your exact information, however we do not have this exact service manual. I can try to give you pointers which will help and you should be success full. First remove power. Then support your counter tops with towels so you can lift out your unit and set it onto the counter top without surface damage. You then have to basically start from the top and remove all knobs, burner grates, and burner caps. This will give you access to the burner screws. Lift them up carefully as so you have to remove the wire connection off each of the burner ignitors. The burner ignitors are porcelain (or ceramic), so be careful not to break them. This will allow you to see all glass top screws on the side of the burner box. Remove all side screws and lift up the glass top. This will give you access to the gas valve switch. Carefully lift switch off valve stem, disconnect wires and replace switch. I hope this helps. Thank you. Read More...
