The Rotary Temperature Switch is an OEM replacement part for GE washers. This switch controls the temperature setting during wash cycles, accommodating various fabric types.

Causes of a bad rotary temperature switch can include wear and tear from frequent use, electrical failures, or damage due to moisture exposure. Over time, the internal components of the switch may degrade, leading to incorrect temperature settings or unresponsive controls.

Symptoms of a bad temperature switch include:

  • Inability to select temperature settings
  • Wash cycles running at an unexpected temperature
  • Fluctuations in water temperature during the wash
  • Constantly running hot or cold water into the tub

This OEM GE replacement part is compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore branded washers as well.

Leeann for Model Number GE model#wdrr2500k3ww

Hi. Im trying to find out info for my daughters washer. It is only 3 years old and they moved and it worked fine before they moved but after they were moved in the washer has a mind of its own, they dont know if its going to be on the wash, spin or whatever cycle they put it on. They can put it on wash and it only goes thru the spin cycle, or sometimes just rinse or sometimes just wash. They just want to set it to do all three and start it on wash, but they don't know what cycle they got until it starts. What part do u think they need? The soninlaw thinks they need the part on the panel that is behind the knob?

LeeAnn, You'll need to check the timer knob, dial, clip and ring to see if they were damaged during the move, You may have a damaged timer WH49X10085 as well. You'll need to remove power to the washer and slide it out a little. Pull out the knob on the timer control. Immediately behind it is a clip that secures it to the timer shaft. Use your pliers to remove the clip and slide the knob off of the shaft. The indicator ring that sits behind the knob is called the "skirt." Remove it from the timer mechanism as well.Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the three (or four, depending on the model) screws at the top of the unit that secure the control panel to the back plate. With these screws removed, the front of the control panel should fold down. Take the entire front control panel and slide it to the right. This will release it from the bottom grooves. Now you can rest the panel down on the top of the washer. Unclip the wiring harness that is connected to it. Remove the lone screw that secures it to the control panel. Then, looking down at the unit, slide it toward you to release it from its clips. Check the timer housing and shaft for damage and operation.

Hello Todd, You will most likely need just the timer knob. The timer knob WH01X10310 has ridges on it that can become worn and when trying to push in and turn it will not engage.

Arp265 for Model Number WHDSR315DAWW

Hi, The plastic gear (teeth) are worn down and the knob teeth are not able to catch it to spin the dial to set the washing cycle. It is not the plastic gear teeth that are built into the inner part of the control knob. I tried replacing this. There is actually a small plastic gear that is wrapped around the rotary switch. I cannot seem to find this part. Does this come with the rotary switch?? It is never shown in any of the pictures of the rotary switch for this model. The plastic gear part I am talking about can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnRj1bNQvrw at time 0:27 in the video. Why isn't this plastic part ever shown in the picture of the rotary knob? Does it come with it? Thank you for your help!

Hi Kurt. Has the timer been sounding like a rattle or a buzzing ? It is a (quick) bad indication of needing a timer part # WH12X10297. If you have to manually advance it to the next cycle then you need to replace it. Since you need to shut the house spickett off to stop the water input, then the water valve part # WH13X10024 solenoid has stuck open and needs replaced. Thank You.

Greazy for Model Number WCXR1070A 1WW

Here are my problems: 1)Black grease in the bottom of the cabinet.2)Fuzzy fabric material shredded in the metal cabinet.3)The machine does not agitate at all during the wash cycle. 4)During the wash cycle the basket turns slowly for about ten seconds with a whirring sound, and then stops....It repeats this type of cycle every 60 seconds or so during the washing cycle. It is not a motor fuse as the motor runs during the spin cycle. I have tried the reset proceedure (unplug, then open/close lid after plugging in). The splines on the center tub axle are NOT stripped. I watched the motor during the wash cycle and it does turn slowly for about 10 seconds every 60 seconds during the wash cycle. The belt is in good shape and has about 1/2 inch push in room. What is the problem? Motor Relay? Transmission and/or brake? Electrical clutch? Timer? I need help badly and clothes are piling up.

1 Answer

Hello Greazy. The problem you described sounds like the transmission has failed. Oil has leaked from the transmission and the fibrous material is wear from the belt. The grease (transmission oil) also coats the brake and clutch assemblies causing slippage, making normal operation an impossibility. The electronic controls are sensing what the unit components are doing and when they don't see the proper actions taking place, it will shut everything down. I do not believe the problem is electrical. From the description given I believe it is a trasmission issue. Hope this helps!
