The Washer Agitator Coupler Kit is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This kit includes the coupler component that connects the agitator to the washing machine's transmission. It plays a pivotal role in the washing process by transmitting rotational force from the motor to the agitator, enabling it to move back and forth and effectively clean clothes.

Symptoms of a bad Washer Agitator Coupler include:

  • The agitator failing to move or moving weakly during cycles, which can result in poorly washed clothes.
  • Unusual noises from the washing machine during operation, indicating a mechanical issue.
  • The agitator slipping or feeling loose when manually pushed or pulled.

Causes of a bad agitator coupler can include wear and tear from regular use, excessive load sizes that strain the agitator, or material fatigue that weakens the coupler over time.

This OEM replacement part is essential for restoring proper functionality to your GE washing machine and is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Ron, With the unit not agitating and the coupler and agitator look good then this would most likely be with the transmission. You will want to check to make sure that the motor is running. If the motor is running then the transmission needs replaced.

Faye, You will want to pull the agitator off and check the agitator coupler as it sounds likely that it would be stripped. If the agitator coupler is damaged then it would need to be replaced. If it checks ok then the issue will be a bad agitator.

Paul for Model Number EWA3000B1WW

Hello, my washer is now not working. It fills with water well, then I hear a click as if the motor is going to start, however nothing happens at that point. it then times down the wash cycles all while doing nothing at all. I checked the agitator which appears ok, the belt looks new and I can spin the pulleys. the motor also gets hot as if it is getting power but nothing happens until the drain cycle. I have seen comments about the agitator coupling possibly helping. is that a common fix or does it sound like something else. I don't mind trying the 7.00 coupling and having it not work, but if its a motor, I think I'm better off getting a new one for the price. any help would be appreciated, thank you

Paul, The agitator coupler would most likely not be the cause of the unit not agitator or spinning. This would most likely be a motor or transmission issue. You could pull the belt off the unit and see if the motor turns with the belt off and if it does then the transmission is most likely bad.

Tina, With the grease being on the inside of the washer there would be 1 of 2 possible causes. The first would be that you are using a liquid fabric softener and it is not dissolving all the way. When that happens it will turn a brown like grease and would just need to be cleaned under the agitator. If this is not the case then it sounds like the seal on the transmission shaft may be leaking and would require a new transmission.

Hello David. If the bolt is removed and it is stuck, you may need to use a chisel and cut it from the shaft.

Hello Amy, This agitator clips onto the agitator coupling. If you jerk up sharply on the agitator, it will snap off.

Hello Jake. You will need to replace the coupling. Try busting it out without damaging the agitator. You can also try running a larger bolt into it to pull it out.
