The Washer Agitator Coupler Kit is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This kit includes the coupler component that connects the agitator to the washing machine's transmission. It plays a pivotal role in the washing process by transmitting rotational force from the motor to the agitator, enabling it to move back and forth and effectively clean clothes.

Symptoms of a bad Washer Agitator Coupler include:

  • The agitator failing to move or moving weakly during cycles, which can result in poorly washed clothes.
  • Unusual noises from the washing machine during operation, indicating a mechanical issue.
  • The agitator slipping or feeling loose when manually pushed or pulled.

Causes of a bad agitator coupler can include wear and tear from regular use, excessive load sizes that strain the agitator, or material fatigue that weakens the coupler over time.

This OEM replacement part is essential for restoring proper functionality to your GE washing machine and is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

For Ge Washer Agitator Coupler Kit (Part Number: OEM11893914)

Chris for Model Number VVSR1040V2WW

Several months ago, due to a loud spin cycle, we replaced the transmission/brake assembly, hub, bearing washer, seal, and hub washer. The other day, the washer had a very bad imbalance and was left alone; my wife returned to the washer moved about 6 inches out of place and it would not spin or agitate. I purchased and replaced the agitator coupling after some research, but then I noticed that the lid switch striker was completely separated, which I put back into place. Now the unit will spin, but will not agitate (even with the new agitator coupling). The belt/pulley move freely by hand, but the transmission does not move at that time. The transmission housing moves during the spin cycle. The belt seems to have good tension and be in good shape, along with the clutch retaining clip. The motor/transmission/clutch/belt seem to move correctly during the spin cycle, but nothing happens during agitation cycle (with the top closed). Thanks.

Chris, I would remove the front panel and visually check my wire harness connections at the motor and door lock to make sure no damage was done.

Tom, If the washer doesn't drain, it won't spin, So, First check the magnetic lid switch and wiring WH12X10141, the lid has to be down, and the switch has to "close" for the washer to drain and spin. Then check for voltage to the drain pump WH23X10030 in the final spin and drain cycle. If you have the voltage, the drain pump has failed, If no voltage, but the lid switch is OK, check or replace the timer.

Hello Greg, The coupler splines are plastic and the splines on the shaft are steel. The shaft splines will not wear against the plastic. The plastic splines are the ones that wear out and when looking inside it, they normally look good until touching them with a small screwdriver or something when it becomes apparent that the splines are actually the grease to prevent the shaft from rusting has taken the shape of the splines. Replacing the coupler WH49X10042 will correct your issue and the shaft should not be a concern.

Don, Are you sure it's smoke and not steam from the hot water ? You will need to remove power then remove the control console(3 screws) and "roll" it forward and check the wiring and damage to the switches, timer, and fill valve. Repair any loose connections or damaged wires and any "melted" switch or component(s).

Eddie, The rotation would be correct and it does sound like the agitator coupler would need to be replaced. The part number for the coupler would be WH43X10032. Make sure that it is not loose on the shaft.

Karl, The agitator coupling for your unit will be part number WH49X10042 and will be the same as the original but maybe a slight design change or the manufacturer just changed vendors would be the difference in the numbers.
