Dan Emerson February 21, 2016 for Model Number Kenmore Elite Dryer 79681028900 I pulled the dryer apart. I checked all 4 rollers and cleaned. They look ok. The belt seems ok, but it may not be. Before I order from you I would like a little help. The best description of the problem is the dryer is making a thumping sound on every turn. I'm not sure if the problem is the belt or something near the pulley? Please help ASAP.
1 Answer Dan, For this issue you will want to inspect the drum of the unit for a weld at the end having broken. This is the most common cause of the unit making a thumping noise. Read More...
Cliff March 17, 2014 for Model Number LG Tromm DLE7177RM When attempting to start the dryer it makes a humming noise and the drum will not spin, even if it is empty. Previously it would do the same thing when attempting to restart the dryer for continued drying. I would let it sit for 10-15 minutes and it would start.
1 Answer Cliff, Based on the information you will want to check the rollers of the unit to ensure that the rollers are not seized. If the rollers have seized it will cause the drum to not turn. If this checks ok then most likely the issue will be with the motor. Read More...
1 Answer E, The belt will go around the motor pulley and then under and over the idler pulley. Should be on the right hand side of the idler pulley. Read More...
Medic563 August 21, 2013 for Model Number DLG2524w The weld is cracked in the drum on my LG DLG2524w dryer. I am going to purchase the drum (AP4447016) and replace it myself. Should I also replace the drive belt while I have it apart?
1 Answer Medic, If the drive belt is not frayed or damaged then it would not need to be replaced. If the belt looks like it is worn or damaged then you should replace. Read More...
Paul D May 19, 2013 for Model Number LG TROMM DLE5977 When I start my dryer it makes a high pitched squeaking sound but runs then after a few minutes it goes away and is fine for the rest of the loads that are done. It only happens on the first load. Before this started it would make some clicking sound and only run a short time then turn off. I would take some clothes out and then it would run fine. Could this be a drive belt issue?
1 Answer Paul, Yes, it is most likely a belt issue. It could also be due the environment, is the room heated and air conditioned ? and of course overloading the dryer doesn't help(dryer should be loaded 1/3 to 1/2 way full, maximum). Read More...
Denny February 03, 2013 for Model Number DLE7177WM I just moved dryer to my home, from son's house where it was running fine, It's installed, but when dryer starts, there is a loud rattle that sounds like a loose metal part is hitting the outside of the drum. Noise is coming from upper left side, at or near top and back of dryer. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Denny. Remove the top panel off the dryer and see if you can locate the noise in the unit. Read More...

Charlie Weber October 13, 2012 for Model Number Dle2512w My dryer is making a terrible thumping noise. Prior to this, the kids complained about a high pitched squeak while it was running. Do I need to replace the rollers? Should I also replace the belt and pulley assembly while I'm at it? Is this something a guy with a modest amount of mechanical ability can handle?
1 Answer Hi Charlie, it could be that your rollers 4581EL2002L have failed. You have 2 in the front and 2 in back on your model. Check your drum seal 4036EL3001A and it's always a good idea to check your belt 4400EL2001A, idler pulley 4561EL3002A, and blower wheel 5835EL1002A while your in there. Most of those parts are inexpensive and can save you from having to go into it again for a similar repair. It's not a tough repair job and if you look at the diagrams on our website, they may help you figure it out as you go along. By the way, it's also a good time to look at your lint screen 5231EL1003B to see if it needs replacing and take advantage of our flat rate shipping. Hope this helps! Read More...
David N. May 17, 2012 for Model Number DLG2532W Thought replacing the belt would help with our situation, unfortunately it did not . When we start the cycle you can hear the motor engage but it is like it just does not have the pull to get the drum rotating. So you physically have to turn the drum and close the door fast enough to get it going, although it is getting worse and worse. Cleaned the whole dryer out and replaced the belt. Cleaned all the wheels and lubed as well. Once started, it's fine, until the next load!
1 Answer Hello David. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the motor 4681EL1008A is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
