Rodney August 01, 2023 for Model Number WM4500HBA How many shock absorbers are on a WM4500HBA? I would like to replace them all since I have a bad one.
Norm November 23, 2020 for Model Number Kenmore 769.41262.610 Hello, I have a Kenmore Front Loading Washer model 769.41262.610. It makes a squeaking noise sometimes. The Tub moves front to back and causes the squeaking sound. You can make the same sound by reaching in and grabbing the Tub and moving it front to back. Is this movement of the Tub and the squeaking noise caused by the rear shock absorber? I believe there are 3 of them should they all be replaced? What is your part number? Thanks, Norm
1 Answer Norm, The shock absorbers could be the source of the noise, and they should be changes as a group (qty 3) ACV72909503/ACV72909503 Damper Assembly, friction, you may want to order a couple of retainer pins 4774EN3002A/4774FR3118B Hinge Pin(just in case). You also want to check the upper suspension springs 4970FR2084Z/MHY62964802 Suspension Spring for distortion, and at the attachment points on the outer tub and cabinet. Lastly, check the counterbalance weight assemblies on the front of the tub. if the screws are loose or the counterbalance weights are cracked or broken can also create a squeaking noise. Harpseal October 11, 2020 for Model Number WM3170CW Do the dampers wear out before failing completely? Our LG WM3170CW seems (it's hard to tell for sure with so many variables) to be having a tougher time spinning out. It hasn't "failed" at it completely, but I've caught it a couple time recently where it spent a long time trying to balance and hit spin speeds (on simple loads like a bunch of t-shirts and a pair of pants, and I've gone in and manually rearranged things). I think there might be more movement of the drum during spin than there used to be. I'm going to pay closer attention for the next bunch of loads to see if there is a pattern. There is no hard banging yet and it isn't walking across the floor, mainly just the trouble controlling balance to get up to speed. No weird noises. Anyway, I checked all the dampers and none seem obviously much different, and no obvious physical breakage, but as I don't have a reference point, I don't know if any are wearing out. I wouldn't say they all have exactly the same resistance, but it's not like one is half as easy as another. I also checked the springs and they seem fine. I assume they would be fine or basically fail completely.
1 Answer Harpseal, For this issue, it would be recommended to check the drum flange/spider and see if it is broken. If it is not then this would most likely be the suspension rods that faulty. Read More...
Renato February 03, 2020 for Model Number WM3570HWA Hello, I have done both bearings replacement in this washer and started putting the unit back together. Following your video online has been very helpful. I just finished re-attaching the 3 dampners (shock absorbers) and also added the top and bottom front weights, but I notice that the whole tub still leans back some and it is not leveled. Do you believe the rear shock absorbers could be damaged as well?
