Hello Matthew. Lets get the pulsator off because it sounds like change is stuck under it. Then it should screw back down. Thank you.

Chris, If the bolt is snapped off from the bottom then you will want to try to get the rest of the bolt out using an extraction tool. If unable to get it out you would need to replace the gearcase on the unit.

Hello Karina. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the housing AEN73131403 is bad and will need to be replaced. This is the part the pulsator bolt screws into. Thanks.

Jeff, The bolt would need to be put into the wash plate to keep it in place. If the bolt is backing out then you will want to put some loctite on the threads to hold it in place.

Tony M for Model Number WT5101HW

There is a groaning noise when the pulsator (wash plate) starts to spin on my LG WT5101hw washer. It does not make noise when first load sensing (shaking back and forth). Then when it starts to spin, here comes the noise. Also, I can spin the pulsator (wash plate) by hand and it will seem to "bind up" occasionally, then will do the same groaning noise if I continue to spin it. The wash Plate is new, groves are fine and it is tight. Bought replacement from you when old one worked loose and stripped. Before I replaced the wash plate, machine was making same noise, but it went away with new wash plate for a few weeks. Now back. Thanks

1 Answer

Tony, With the noise only occurring in the spin cycle then this would most likely be a bearing that is going bad and would need to get part number AEN73131403 to correct this issue.

Faye for Model Number wt5070cw

Each time washer runs, lots of crud is floating in water. Cleaned drain hose that was full/clogged with scum. Cleaned all dispensers and pulsator cap. checked pump hose, too. I also ran clean cycle numerous times with vinegar and other cleaners. I believe its coming from under the pulsator plate (AGZ72909702) which I want to replace. Followed your video for removing plate, took off cap and removed screw, but wash plate will not come off. Even ran clean cycle several times without cap and screw. Plate will not budge from shaft. Based on repair videos and LG service, plate should lift right off after screw is removed. Have also tried prying off with no luck.

1 Answer

Hello Faye, These can sometimes seize to the shaft and have to be forced off. Try using a belt, slipping it under the pulsator and hooked back to itself to form a loop. This will enable you to move it around and apply upward pressure in different positions until it comes out.

Matthew, The wash plate should not spin freely on the drive shaft and if it is then this would most likely be the cause of the unit agitating and could be causing the grinding noise as well. If there are no ridges at the point where the bolt goes through the wash plate then it would need to be replaced.
