Questions & Answers

For Lg Pulsator Assembly (Part Number: OEM20402199)

1 Answer

Mark, To repair this you will have to purchase the clutch assembly. That would be the only way the new pulsator could screw back in.

M, you may want to check the pressure sensor, hose, and tub connection of the pressure hose for any signs of improper operation. The hose would need to be checked for any clogs, as well as the tub connection of the pressure hose, as this can cause the unit to not sense the water fill. In regards to the screw coming loose, you will want to use blue loctite to correct it from coming loose. For the scraping noise, you will want to identify the location that it is coming from. If it is coming from the basket and outer tub section, there is possibly debris in there causing the scraping which can influence the sensing of the unit. If the scraping is coming from the motor section, then there may be damage or debris on the rotor 4413EA1004D or stator 4417EA1002K.

Roberto for Model Number LG Model #WT1201C

My LG top load washers pulsator plate gears were worn so I ordered and received a new one. However the center bolt that is to be tightened to reassemble doesn’t,t ighten into anything. I noticed this replacement pulsator plates inner thread is plastic where the original was metal threading. I have watched the you tube videos and they all seat the plate onto the gears and righten the center bolt and that’s it. Does it need loctite?

1 Answer

Roberto, On this the bolt should go into the shaft of the transmission and when it goes in it would be best to have loctite on the threading to keep it from backing out.

Glenn for Model Number WT4870CW

Hi, have an error code e6, machine won’t run. Viewing with back panel remove the drum slowly agitates for a few seconds, 4 times then shuts down and code pops up. Checked per instructions for coins or anything stuck between washer pulsator plate and drum, found nothing. Pulsator will sping by hand and no noise. Removed cap and retaining bolt, pulsator is siezed on clutch shaft! Saw online that if you add boiling water to tub it should free up plate. Still won’t come off! Any suggestions? I’m trying to get at drive assembly, but won’t be able to get at large retaining nut 38mm, until pulsator is removed.

1 Answer

Glenn, Try spraying some penetrating oil on in the opening of the pulsator and let it soak a little and see if this does not help to break it free, If this does not allow it to come off then try to get a rope under it and use leverage to pull it off.

Gaidzahg for Model Number WT1701CW

We noticed a few days ago that the washer was stuck on the wash cycle trying to agitate. The "Wash" button light keep turning on a off and the washer seemed like it wanted to agitate but it would only rotate a fraction of an inch. It seemed like it was stuck on something. We drained the washer, took out the clothes, and noticed that the pulsator was loose/off kilter. I took the cap off and saw that the screw holding the pulsator was loose so I loosened it completely and took the plate off. After cleaning off the crud, it looks like the splines of the pulsator are gone, so it seems the easy fix is just to get a new one. But the splines on the shaft that the pulstator connects to also appear worn down. Not anywhere near the pulsator's splines, which are gone, but they are not sharp. Trouble is I don't know what they looked like when new. So the real question is, is this from normal wear and tear or is there something deeper going on that needs to be fixed before the splines on the new pulsator get ground off too? Like do I need a new clutch or something? Thanks.

1 Answer

Gaidzahg, Yes it sounds like the clutch housing assembly would need to be changed on the unit as well. If you look at the 3rd photo of part number AEN73131403 it will show what the shaft should look like.

Debbi, Yes, there is a washer underneath the "pulsator"/agitator FAF30369201 / FAF30369201] / Washer. You will need to remove the pulsator and check to see if it is missing or deformed. Also check and clean the area under the pulsator, and check the pulsator for bends or dips in the edge all the way around. Also consider a new pulsator bolt FAB30598601 / FAB30598601 Washer Screw, and replace the bolt and tighten it as tight as possible, the blue "loctite" should hold it in place and keep it from coming loose. Thanks,

Jeffrey, That wash plate bolts into the clutch assembly so there could be an issue with that part. Make sure the wash plate is seated down all the way so the threads on the bolt are biting.

Frustrated with machine, This issue may be caused by a clutch issue in which is it not fully engaging causing the unit to not agitate properly.

Hello Perk, You will need to check the splines in the pulsator plate. If they are good you will most likely have to replace the gearcase assembly. I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to please post a new question including the verified model number from the units' I.D. tag since the one provided will not come up for us as a valid model number. This will enable us to recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.
