The Thermistor Assembly is an OEM component specifically designed for front loading LG washing machines. It plays an important role in monitoring and regulating temperatures during heated wash cycles. The thermistor detects temperature changes within the wash drum and sends this information to the control board to ensure clothes are washed at the optimal temperature.

Causes of a bad thermistor assembly can include general wear and tear over time, exposure to extreme temperatures, or damage due to impact or mishandling during cycles.

Symptoms of a bad thermistor assembly include:

  • Inability to reach or maintain set temperatures
  • Fluctuating water temperatures
  • Error codes related to temperature sensing

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore washers.

Hello Joe. Your unit does not have a thermistor listed because according to the manufacturer this unit does not come with a thermistor assembly. Thanks!

Kevin, The only way to get to the ground screw that is behind the motor would have to be accessed by removing the motor.

Hello Sal, This can be the harness or the control. If the control has an issue in the circuit that reads the information sent to it by the thermistor, replacing the harness will not help. Since replacing the harness is such a vast job, I would strongly recommend to verify connections by unplugging and plugging them, in and out several times since this will remove possible corrosion which may have formed. I would determine which connections on the harness at the control end are the correct ones to test the thermistor through the harness, (blue to white is one thermistor and brown to white is the other thermistor. This is on a three wire connector whit blue, white, and brown wires in it). If the readings are the same or within an ohm or so, the harness is most likely not the issue. If it has a high reading in comparison to the thermistor reading, it will be the issue.

Kerry, With still getting the TE error code, you will want to check the wiring from the thermistor to the control board. Check for loose or broken connections and if this checks ok then the most likely issue is the control board being faulty.

Scott for Model Number LG front loading washer made before 2008

The wires in the wiring harness have sheared off at the white plastic clip that attaches to the thermistor. So replacing the thermistor isn't going to solve the problem. I need a new white quick connect clip that attaches to the thermistor. Could you sell me one of those? I am not able to remove the tiny metal connectors inside the white clip to reconnect the wires because of a friction mechanism molded in the plastic of the white clip. I've tried using needles and tweezers without success.

Scott, to verify the available parts to the harness we'll need the appliance model number. Please obtain this information and reply to this e-mail for further assistance. Thank you.

Russ, It appears that the main wire harness for the unit would have the part that you are needing. The part number for the main harness is 6877ER1044K.

Hello Ron, The thermistor can be accessed by disconnecting the door boot from the main front assembly and reaching through this opening. You do, however, have to be extremely careful not to damage the door boot.

Hello Paul, There are three things in this circuit. The thermistor, the wiring and the control. I have actually had arguements with the manufacturer because they would not admit that the control that reads the information the thermistor is sending has circuitry inside it that can fail and the readings were being mis-interpreted. If all connections are good and the thermistor is reading good through the wiring harness from the control end, the control 6871ER1062D has to be the issue.

Kon for Model Number WD-1256RD

We have this LG washer/dryer when you turn it on it gives us fault code EE minus the horizontal line on the top of the first E and beeps does not let you do anything.I looked it up on the fault codes .it tells me (water temperature trouble & unplug and get serviced)I thought it would be something with heating the water.I spoke to one repair guy he thinks it is the thermistor. What do you think.I have pulled the face of the machine off so i can see everything. Please help Thanks Kon

1 Answer

Kon, You're getting close. Since you have the front off the machine, remove the wires from the heater terminals 5301FR1158D and check for a resistance reading of 10 to 30 ohms, this will tell you if the heater is intact. Then Remove the wire connector from the thermistor 6322FR2046C and check for a resistance of 2.5K and 180K ohms with a multi meter and make sure the thermistor hasn't backed out or loosened in the rubber heater housing. If all checks are OK, you'll need to check the wiring(especially at the terminals on the thermistor) and at the control board 6871EC2005A.
