The Compressor Start Relay is an OEM part for LG refrigerators, playing a critical role in the starting mechanism of the compressor. This small but crucial component helps to kickstart the compressor, enabling it to begin the refrigeration cycle that cools the interior of the fridge.

Causes of a bad Compressor Start Relay include wear and tear over time, electrical surges that can damage the relay, or overheating of the compressor unit.

Symptoms of a bad Compressor Start Relay include:

  • The refrigerator failing to cool properly or maintain the set temperature.
  • A noticeable increase in the electric bill due to the refrigerator working harder to maintain temperatures.
  • Strange noises, such as clicking sounds from the compressor area
  • The compressor not starting at all, leading to a complete lack of cooling within the refrigerator.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with some Kenmore models.

For Lg Compressor Start Relay (Part Number: OEM17848026)

Dan for Model Number 795799769000

Hi, My Kenmore fridge is running warm. The freezer is around 10 degrees and the fridge is around 50. After reading through some of the posts on your site I was thinking of replacing the Overload Protector and the Thermistor. One other thing to note is that there is a setting in the fridge that allows you to select the temperature (cold to colder). Pressing the button does not change the setting. This is making me think that it may be something else. Any help would be appreciated.

Dan, You will want to check coils in the freezer to see if they are impacted with ice. If so then the issue would most likely be a defrost sensor or control board that has failed.

Hello Nick. If it only clicks intermittently, then it is not any of those parts. The compressor is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. The pressure is preventing it from starting. The compressor is starting to fail.

Jeff for Model Number LRBN20512WW

LG fridge/freezer not cooling or freezing down. Had huge amounts of dust/dirt on compressor coils. Cleaned all out, but still not cold. Fan working, but compressor not coming on. Compressor hot to touch. Tested compressor with multimeter and apparently is good resistance numbers, so I'm thinking to replace start relay mounted to compressor. Number on part is P6R8MD OR0610. Slightly different from your part number listed. Based on information listed above, would you recommend any additional parts and/or different diagnosis for problem? Thank you, Jeff
