The Compressor Start Relay is an OEM part for LG refrigerators, playing a critical role in the starting mechanism of the compressor. This small but crucial component helps to kickstart the compressor, enabling it to begin the refrigeration cycle that cools the interior of the fridge.

Causes of a bad Compressor Start Relay include wear and tear over time, electrical surges that can damage the relay, or overheating of the compressor unit.

Symptoms of a bad Compressor Start Relay include:

  • The refrigerator failing to cool properly or maintain the set temperature.
  • A noticeable increase in the electric bill due to the refrigerator working harder to maintain temperatures.
  • Strange noises, such as clicking sounds from the compressor area
  • The compressor not starting at all, leading to a complete lack of cooling within the refrigerator.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with some Kenmore models.

For Lg Compressor Start Relay (Part Number: OEM17848026)

Ken for Model Number LFD23860ST

I have a LG LFD23860ST fridge. my old starter relay, capacitor and OLP were replaced with 6749C-0014E PTC and 6750C-0005P OLP according to my local appliance repair source who suggested these parts. I only have a blue and black wire connecting to the original starter. My fridge has a embraco EGX70HLC compressor which calls for a running capacitor (RSCR type). Does this PTC supercedes the need to have a capacitor? And do I connect the blue wire to terminal 2 or 3? Thanks!

1 Answer

Ken, The capacitor is not required on this part and the blue wire will connect to the number 3 terminal on the relay.

Ken for Model Number LFD23860ST

I`m replacing an original PTC/capacitor/relay assembly on my LG model LFD23860ST fridge, which they don`t manufacture any longer. The parts you are selling as replacement 6749C-0014E (thermistor asm, PTC) and 6750C-0005P (overload) connect to the compressor. Now I have only two wires, one black one blue. The black connect to the overload, now I have one (blue) wire and two prongs on the thermistor, but no pink wire. How do I proceed? Do I connect the blue wire to the terminal that's marked '3' as well and leave terminal '2' unconnected?

1 Answer

Ken, The blue wire will go to the number 3 terminal on the relay and that should complete the repair once it is put onto the compressor plug it in and see if the compressor turns on.

Hello SJC. You will need to order the overload with the relay to use all 3 wires.

Lee for Model Number lfx25961al

I have the new relay 6749c-0014e, overload protector 6750ja3001b and a capacitor 0czzjb2014g. as my original parts are no longer available. I understand from reading the other questions that the new relay is smaller than the original and that I use the overload protector for the connection of the black wire and the blue wire connects to the terminal numbered 3. But how does the capacitor plug into or attach to the relay and the overload protector? OR do i not need the capacitor? Thanks in advance,

1 Answer

Lee, The capacitor would not be required when using the new overload and relay assembly.

Santiago, On the Relay/thermistor there are numbers next to the terminals. If you put the blue wire on the terminal number 3 this will get you back up and running.
