Diane, It will not matter which wire is attached to which location on this thermostat. The thermostat is just completing a circuit.

My LG Microwave will not cook. It would work for a time. Then when you shut it off or it is done cooking and you attempt to use it again, it will not work. Everything works but the magnetron doesn't come on. I'm thinking it may be a thermal switch issue, because if you let it cool down it would work. However, now the magnetron is not coming on at all. Is there a way to trouble shoot this problem? I have the LG Service Manual with the schematic, but it's not very helpful.

1 Answer

John, There is a thermostat on the side of the magnetron that could have failed and would be part number 6930W1A003X. You can test this for continuity and should be closed for continuity. You can also test the resistance of the magnetron to make sure that it is good. You put your leads across the terminals and there should be less than 1 ohm of resistance. If it is higher than that then it is bad.

Jack, This oven thermostat would read open until it reaches 160 degrees and at 160 degrees it will close. This is typically used for the cooling fan circuit on a microwave or a oven in which the fan needs to come on at a certain temp to cool the control components.

Kenny, You will want to check to see if there is power getting to the control board. If there is no power to the control board then one of the thermal cutoffs in the unit has failed and you will want to check each thermal fuse for continuity. If no continuity then the part is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Andy, You will want to check the owners manual to see if there is a temperature adjustment that can be made. Also if there is not then the oven sensor would be the issue.

Harold, In order to replace the thermostat for your unit, you will need to pull the unit down from installation. Once down you will remove the air grill, and the cabinet of the unit. This will give you access to be able to replace the thermostat.

I am replacing the thermostat (thermal fuse) on this range and am not sure how to remove the old one and install the new one (still waiting for it to arrive) without doing any damage. Does it screw in, clip in, or am I supposed to bend the tabs back that hold it in? I couldn't find anything in the Service Manual for this procedure, just that I should replace it. I'm bridging the connectors so I could establish continuity and use the cooktop for now, but it's probably not a great solution. This is my 2nd time asking this question, hope somebody at APP has time to answer. You have given me great service in the past!

1 Answer

Hi Debbie. Did you get our response earlier today? Usually the oven will pop open after a clean cycle. The service manual does not say anything about changing procedures, but it is usually straightforward with either 1/4" bolts or bendable tabs, even phillips screws. The thermostat should be restocked whin 5-7 buissness day. Sorry about any inconveniences. Thank you.
