The Water Inlet Valve Assembly is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. This valve controls the flow of water into the refrigerator for the ice maker and water dispenser. It ensures a steady supply of water, allowing these features to function efficiently.

You should replace the water inlet valve assembly if it becomes defective. Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include sediment build-up, electrical faults, or mechanical wear. These issues can compromise the valve's ability to open and close correctly, affecting water flow.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve assembly include:

  • No water or ice production
  • Leaks or water pooling around the refrigerator
  • Low water pressure from the dispenser
  • Strange noises during water filling

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

For Lg Water Inlet Valve Assembly (Part Number: OEM13336851)

Tom, the water valve can be tested for 120VAC when either the water dispenser is being pressed or the ice maker is calling for water. If there is voltage, the tubing from the single connector side can be removed and the valve aimed into a cup. If water comes through when the water dispenser is pressed, the next step is to re-insert the tubing and remove the one across from it. The tubing would then be aimed into the cup and the water dispenser pressed to identify if the water is passing through the filter. If it is, the next step would be re-inserting that tubing and removing the last 5/16" tubing. With the open connector aimed into a cup, the dispenser would be pressed. If water passes through the valve but water was not dispensing prior to testing, there is a frozen line. If water does not come through the valve, the valve has failed. The same can be done for the 1/4" tubing that leads to the ice maker when it is set to call for water by pressing the reset on the ice maker.

Danny, Check to make sure that the hoses are not frozen or clogged up, Also, check to make sure that there is power getting to the valve when the unit calls for water to the icemaker or the dispenser. If there is power then it is likely that the filter head may be the issue with the unit.

Craig for Model Number Mjx41178908

I bought this replacement part for my water inlet on an LG refrigerator. The original part number appears not to be made anymore. The original part was 5220 QJB 2009A. On the description it says this is the new part since the other piece was discontinued. However, the water line wire harness had four prongs, and the new water inlet only has two prongs. Could I splice the two together to make one clip. Is there a separate wire harness I need to purchase?

Craig, if the model number of your appliance could be provided in a new question, this will allow for the most accurate information to be presented.
