The Water Inlet Valve Assembly is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. This valve controls the flow of water into the refrigerator for the ice maker and water dispenser. It ensures a steady supply of water, allowing these features to function efficiently.

You should replace the water inlet valve assembly if it becomes defective. Causes of a bad water inlet valve can include sediment build-up, electrical faults, or mechanical wear. These issues can compromise the valve's ability to open and close correctly, affecting water flow.

Symptoms of a bad water inlet valve assembly include:

  • No water or ice production
  • Leaks or water pooling around the refrigerator
  • Low water pressure from the dispenser
  • Strange noises during water filling

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Lg Water Inlet Valve Assembly (Part Number: OEM13336851)

Brandan, based on the information provided it would be more than likely that the filter head assembly ADQ72911006 is not engaging properly when the filter is installed. The water valve can be tested by removing the tubing from the single solenoid where the water from the house is installed, aim it into a cup, and use the water dispenser. If water comes through, this solenoid is good and it is unlikely that the two other solenoids would have failed at the same time. If water does not come through, then the main single solenoid has indeed failed and the valve assembly 5221JA2006D would need to be changed out.

I purchased a used LG and after plugging it in everything seemed fine except i got no water dispensing and no ice from the ice maker (it was turned on). I replaced the water supply solenoid but still no water or ice. the ice dispenser will work if ice is added to the bin. after checking the voltage at the first solenoid, I get almost no voltage. The solenoid with the red clip will get normal line voltage when the dispenser is triggered. The other solenoid only gets about 5 VAC. Is this a control board issue? Any additional tests I can do to narrow down the issue?

1 Answer

Jonathan, you can test connection 3 pin 1 at the main control for 120VAC when the water dispenser is engaged. This connection goes to the main solenoid at the valve and if it does not send 120VAC to the main solenoid, the main control EBR61439203 is bad.

Blue, For this issue you will want to test to make sure that there is 120 vac getting to the water valve. If there is 120 vac to the water valve then this will be a faulty valve.

I just purchased this part: LG Electronics 5221JA2006D Refrigerator Water Inlet Valve for my refrigerator and replaced it and replaced the water filter at the same time. The fridge make one batch of ice and then the same problem started happening: water is spraying/dripping out of the front of the ice maker and dripping into the ice tray resulting in a frozen mess. The water also sprays/drips down through the shelving in the freezer resulting in a frozen layer of ice on my food. What could be the problem at this point?

1 Answer

Cheryl, The most likely cause for this will be either the water pressure is too high to the refrigerator or the icemaker is faulty and would need replaced.

Sanjay, You will want to pull the icemaker and check to see if the fill tube is frozen. This will be the most likely cause for this issue.

John, You would want to do a resistance check on the valve. The best thing to do though would be test power and to do so you would cycle the icemaker and then go to the back and put your leads on the solenoid that has the smallest tube which is for the icemaker. If there is 120 vac then the valve is bad and if there is not 120 vac then the icemaker would be the issue.

John, The white ring on the first valve where the water supply connect, that will be a 5/16" tubing that runs to the water filter. The one coming back from the filter will connect to the gray ring then the 1/4" tubing that goes to the icemaker will go to the orange connection and the last tube will go to the white connector.

Mike for Model Number 795.51079.011

My original water supply valve was leaking and I contacted the maker of the fridge for a new one due to the part number must have changed. They sent me one and it would work fine but every time the water for the ice maker would go on it would come out of the front instead of the ice maker. They sent me another one and it does the same. Then I switched the 2 water lines that are the same size now it sends no water anywhere. Which bigger line goes into the main water supply? The one that goes into the water tank or the one that goes up the back of the fridge to the water filter. How can I cycle the ice maker to re prime the line?? Why did the old one work but the new one doesn't

1 Answer

Mike, The water line that goes into the water tank will go to the dispenser door. As for the issue with the water coming out of the dispenser when calling for ice, this sounds like a issue with the wiring being reversed on the valve.
