Questions & Answers

For Samsung Microwave High Voltage Diode (Part Number: OEM12710103)

1 Answer

Dennis, after allowing the microwave to sit unplugged for 10 minutes, the outer casing would need to be removed to access the capacitor and diode.

Hello Cory, the diode and the magnetron work together in the high voltage circuit, if the magnetron is having problems and draws an excess of current it will cause the diode to fail, if the diode was replaced and the mw heated correctly for a short time and the diode has failed again then the diode and the magnetron would need to be replaced , however the manufacturer has discontinued the magnetron [DE94-02754A] for your model.

Eugene, You will want to test the door switches to make sure that they are good. If the door switches test ok then test the magnetron for a resistance value of less than 1 ohm of resistance. Also, test to see if the capacitor and the diode are good.

Scott, more than likely the magnetron has failed. A diode normally makes a loud noise when it has failed. There is not a safe way I can tell you as to how to check the high voltage side. I would recommend you letting a trained service tech look at it.

Kathy, Yes the diode DE91-70063D will for for your model but will want to check to see if the magnetron is bad by testing for continuity. If there is less than 1 ohm then it is good.

Eric Alexander for Model Number JMC8130DDB

My 2007 microwave stopped heating. I checked my microwave for all the usual issues: magnetron, door latches, capacitor and determined that the problem was my diode. When I checked it, according to the testing meter, it appeared to not allow the current to flow in either direction. I checked the part I needed and bought the replacement diode. Samsung Diode, part # AP4236698 (DE91-70063D) (It looks just like the old diode). The brand new diode does not appear to allow the current to flow in either direction based on meter testing. I had a another old diode which showed that the meter was working properly and showed that the current could only flow in one way. Are microwave diodes different than standard diodes? Did I buy a deficient part, or is the problem with the microwave something else entirely? Thanks

1 Answer

Eric, A microwave diode would be the same as other diodes but would suggest installing the new diode to see if this will correct the heating issue.

Subir, You will want to change the door switches on the unit as they would be the cause of the fan blowing with the door open and the fuse continuing to blow.
