Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Door Gasket (Part Number: OEM13007406)

Jim, First, unwrap and uncoil the replacement gasket, set it out in the sunlight or in a tub of very hot water. This will remove most of the wrinkles and soften the gasket to make it easier to work with. Remove the old gasket, open the door and grasp the gasket in the center of the gasket at the top or side and pull it out of the retainer groove in the liner. Use some hot soapy water to clean the liner and grooved area. Start installing the gasket in opposing corners (top left, then bottom right, etc.) once the corners are installed then you can press the remainder of the gasket around the door. You can use a teaspoon or table spoon and a hair dryer to smooth out the remaining wrinkles if needed. Apply a thin coat of "Vaseline" to the flat surface of the door gasket on the hinge side of the door and close the door, check to make sure the door gasket seals the complete circumference of the door.

Herbert, If you pull the flapper to the open position so that you can see the side of the door liner there will be 2 plugs with screws behind them. Remove the plugs and screws and then lift up on the flapper and it should come off.

CHL, We're not quite clear, The part you listed DA97-05253B is for a Samsung "french' door (3 doors) refrigerator, the model number you supplied [RB215BSSB] is a "bottom" mount refrigerator (2 doors), the french door gasket will not fit on the bottom mount refrigerator door DA63-07731A you may want to recheck and verify the model number and the part number to make sure the part is correct for the refrigerator. No you don't "have" to remove anything from the door. But you may want to remove the bins and shelves on the door tp make it easier to remove and install the gasket. Grasp the gasket in the middle area between two corners and pull out and up to remove the original gasket. Soak the replacement gasket in the tub in HOT water, this will soften the gasket and make it easier to work with and seat in the channel formed in the liner. Start at opposing corners, make sure you have the retainer sleeve properly seated in the channel. Once the corners are set and in position, install the areas between the corners. You may want to use a teaspoon or tablespoon to smooth out any wrinkles and to make sure you force the retainer strip into the channel. Once installed, apply a thin coat of "Vaseline" to the hinge side of the gasket surface and the front flange of the metal cabinet. This should help keep the gasket from "rolling over" and help to preserve the seal as well.

Ron, If you are unable to pull out the gasket then open the flapper and there will be 1 or 2 screws that you would remove from the center of the flap that holds it in place. Remove and lift up to take the flapper loose. This will give you access to remove and replace the gasket.

Gunter, The door gasket would just pull off and when you put the new one on it just pushes into the groove on the door. If there are places where the door seal is not meeting the cabinet you would want to use a blow dryer and run it along the gasket to get it to seal. Do not hold the blow dryer in one spot but move it up and down the gasket.
