Leonard, based on the information provided, the issue would be that the water inlet valve DA97-07695A is leaking by and is causing the water to pass through. As a valve gets worn, parts of the valve can get to where it does not close fully.

Jon, you may want to inspect the valve DA62-00930A to see if there is a humming noise coming from it. This humming noise is the valve being energized and if it is not humming then the valve has failed and is letting water pass. If the valve is being energized, the most likely issue would be the main control and it can be tested. The first step will be to test the main pcb MICOM #31 for +5V output, IC70 #18 for 0V output, and then with the unit unplugged the relay K76 will need to be inspected for any visible defects. If any of these fail, the main control DA41-00293A would need to be replaced. If the main control tests good, then there would be an issue with the ice maker DA97-02203H that would be causing the main control to sense a continuous harvest.

Rupert for Model Number DA97-07365G

I have a GE refrigerator with a Samsung ice maker DA97-07365G, I acquired the refrigerator from a friend who had the ice maker and water dispenser working. It sat in my garage for about 3 months before I installed it in our kitchen. The water dispenser works but we get no ice at all. I pushed the reset button but all that flows out is water once the cycle is complete. I wanted to know if the ice maker needs to be replaced or another part. I had the refrigerator hooked up for about 2 weeks before I installed the water line. Unfortunately I did not know I should have put the ice maker into ice off mode. Any help you could give would be great as well as a link to parts I might need.

1 Answer

Rupert, When you manually cycle the ice maker and it fills as the cycle ends that is normal operation. When you check the ice maker a couple hours later there should be ice in the mold waiting to be ejected on the next cycle. If all of this is correct then you might have a cooling issue. The freezer must be close to 0 degrees for the ice maker to cycle on its own. So check fan operation for evaporator and condenser and make sure the condenser itself is clean.
