Questions & Answers

For Samsung Vent Hood Control Board (Part Number: OEM21043602)

Kim L for Model Number RV36

The vent hood stopped working when it was raised to start use. In troubleshooting The ECM was checked and a carbon mark was on the back of the enclosure as well as the printed circuit board. I tested for ground faults, none were found in the motor or the limit switch assembly. I inspected the control wiring up to the push buttons. No nicks or pinched wires were found. The ECM was replaced , the power was turned on. I pressed the down button to close , and the ECM was blown up same as the original. The fuse was blown on the board, and the smoke was let out with the back of the board blown up again. What have i missed? the fan motor runs when tested, Is the capacitor for the motor failing ? causing over current?

1 Answer

Kim, The capacitor on this could certainly be bad but you will want to double-check everything and ensure that there is no damage or exposed wiring which would be the likely cause.
