The Drain Pump is an OEM part for Speedqueen brand washing machines. Located near the rear of the washer tub, the drain pump works to empty water from the machine at the end of each cycle. It functions through an electrical motor that activates a spinning impeller, forcing water through the drain hose.

Symptoms of a bad drain pump include:

  • Washer fails to fully drain or leaves standing water
  • Drain cycle takes an unusually long time to complete
  • Loud grinding or rattling sounds coming from inside

Over time, a buildup of lint or mineral deposits inside the pump chamber can clog the impeller and reduce efficiency. Allowing water to sit for extended periods also promotes mold growth. Replace your drain pump today with this genuine Speedqueen part and restore full draining capability.

For Speedqueen Drain Pump (Part Number: OEM20991807)

Dee, It sounds like the tub seal may be the cause of the unit leaking. Also check to make sure that the unit is not overfilling with water and is pumping water out properly as it could be that the unit is slow draining which would cause water to come out over the top of the outer tub.

Hello Robert, This can be a hose, the water valve, the outer tub seal, the water pump, or any of the other water carrying parts of the machine. You will need to check by removing the front panel and starting the machine to see where the leak is coming from.

Hello Dan. After 3 years, it depends on the amount the unit was used in the last 3 years. It is not uncommon for a pump that is used a lot to go out after 3 years.

Hello Guy, The pump 205217P could be the issue but you should look up at the bottom of the outer tub for water trails indicating a failed outer tub seal. If there are water trails you will need to replace the outer tub seal, spin bearing, 766P3A and the belt 38174 again. By the way, if the helix 38008 jumps the cogs on the center pulley 204486, the transmission 38165P or 12002177 has failed and will require replacement.

Hello Leatitia. You will need to check and see if the water is leaking from the pump on the unit, and if so, you will need to replace the pump 205217P. Until you check and determine where the water is coming from, there is no way of telling you what part you will need to order and replace.

Hello Dr Pete. No, if the pulley is broke, you will need to replace the motor, not the pump 205217P. Hope this helps.
