Curly August 27, 2018 The title of the video says "replace limit thermostat" but the video says "replace cycling thermostat". Are these 2 names for same part or different parts?
1 Answer Curly, The videos we supply are for "general" information, just an idea of what to expect and basic knowledge of the steps needed to replace similar parts. The 489P3 Limit Thermostat and the WP503979 Regulating thermostat, are different components, rated at different temperatures, and located in two different areas of the dryer. The hi limit thermostat is usually mounted of the element housing(elec.) or the burner cone (gas) . The regulating thermostat is usually mounted on the blower housing on either machine. We would have been happy to supply the part numbers and location of the parts had you included a model number or better idea of what was wrong with the machine. Thanks, Read More...
Rick February 11, 2017 for Model Number Amana LGA60AW Two problems: 1) The dryer does not shut off/cool down on automatic setting. Manual and Timed Dry work fine. 2) It's quiet on initial startup, but once it gets hot it's very noisy. The drum rollers seem okay and everything's clean and gaskets appear okay. There's not a lot of lint buildup anywhere that I can see. Thanks for any help you can render!
1 Answer Rick, The most common cause for the noise would be that the rollers are making the noise with them getting hot. The issue with the unit not shutting off on the auto dry would be a bad cycling thermostat. Read More...
Chris January 23, 2017 for Model Number speed queen dryer propain After my dryer has been running for a complete cycle. just before clothes are completely dry, it gets very noisey. I open the door to allow it to cool down then restart to completely dry. I have replaced the drum rollers and checked glides and they seem okay. I have checked the duct for blockage. I noticed that the burner is always lit. I'm not sure if it is supposed to do that. Never paid attation to it before. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Chris, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including this information and the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can see what configuration/design unit you have in your home and recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Curtis October 17, 2016 for Model Number maytag model#sdg2606aww dryer will not heat up at all, igniter tested good witch thermostat should be replaced?
1 Answer Curtis, It's an easy diagnoses, but not that easy. You will need a multi meter, and you will need to test each thermostat for a "closed" circuit on each one, with the wires removed. Which ever thermostat has an "open" circuit, it's the culprit. The hi limit switch 489P3 is the more susceptible part. It is a "limited duty" safety device that can fail if operated as a cycling thermostat, due to a clogged vent, overloading, or similar circumstances. The re is a process to isolate the problem. Disconnect the gas valve wire harness from the main wire harness, start the dryer on a heat cycle and check for 120 VAC across the two wires in the main harness, if there's no voltage, then start checking the thermostats, timer and wires. If there is voltage across the wires, the problem will be in the gas valve assembly components( coils, flame switch, igniter and wiring. Read More...
Rich July 17, 2015 for Model Number MDG4806AWW My dryer stopped heating but will work intermittently. I cleaned the ducts and replaced the radiant flame sensor and it still does not heat most of the time. The cycles work and the dryer seems to be functioning with no heat to dry. Sometimes after it cools it will work on 30 minute cycle. Should I trash for a new dryer?
1 Answer Hello Rich. You will need to test the thermostats and the coils and make sure they are good. Also, check the igniter to see if it is good. If it is not glowing, test for power. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Norman Q April 30, 2015 for Model Number NDG2335AWW My Amana gas dryer will ignite when cold, but then it doesn't keep heating and the timer doesn't advance. I already replaced cycling thermostat. I'm thinking new timer?
1 Answer Norman, This issue would not be caused by the timer. If the unit is continuing to run but just will not heat then the issue will most likely be caused by faulty gas coils that when they get heated up loose their connection and would need new gas solenoids. Read More...
Rick M. August 02, 2014 for Model Number DLG330RAW The dryer sometimes works on the automatic dry cycles and sometimes it does not. I checked the duct work and vents and everything is clean. From what I've read on your website it sounds like a thermostat issue but how do I know which one it might be. Looking through the parts for my model, there looks to be 4 of them. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Rick, The only thing that affects the automatic cycle that doesn't affect the timed dry cycle is moisture being recirculated inside the unit. If the ducting is in fact clear, the unit has to have a bad drum seal or similar seal that is allowing the moist exhaust air to re-enter the cabinet. If the timed dry is operating properly, there is no thermostat issue. Read More...
Mary D May 29, 2014 for Model Number LGA60AW, LP conversion kit #649P3 installed 07-2013 My dryer started overheating, did this several times, really hot clothes. Last time, the dryer turned itself off probably because it would have caught on fire. What part do I need to fix; i.e. thermostat?
1 Answer Mary, Based on the information, if the dryer does not restart then the thermal fuse would need to be replaced and you will want to check the dryer venting from the blower wheel to the outside of the unit to make sure that it is clean. Read More...
Yr February 14, 2014 I have a Whirpool gas dryer. The flame is turning on at initial startup. Burns for about 20-25 seconds, then shuts off for about 2 minutes. then burns for another 20-25seconds. i've already cleaned vent. i'm going to get the coils. should i get the flame sensor and the hi limit too?
1 Answer Hello YR. You need to look for a venting issue. If it is good, replace the gas valve coils on the unit. Read More...
