Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Washer Agitator Dogs (Part Number: OEM9357198)

1 Answer

Phillip, if the agitator rotates freely in both directions and does not catch the agitator dogs, then you would want to replace the agitator dogs 80040. However, if the motor will run but won't agitate, then there may be a clutch [285785], brake [W10820043], or transmission [3360629] issue.

Hello Marie, I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to post a new question including the model number from your units' I.D. tag so we can recommend parts that can be guaranteed to work properly on your unit. A Kenmore model number will look like 110.29622801 with the first three characters sometimes in a different font. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

John S for Model Number Whirlpool Model LSQ9549LW

I pulled the 2 piece agitator assembly out of my top loader and tried to separate the upper agitator from the bottom agitator, and with all my might the 2 pieces would not separate. I watched your 2 videos on replacing the dogs and noticed you mentioned some tabs could be removed before reassembly. You did not mention these tabs when taking the assembly apart. Could it be that these 4 tabs are holding the assembly together and not allowing me to pull it apart? Should I try to cut those 4 tabs out? If I get the 2 pieces apart, it looks like I only need to order the 4 pieces of dogs and not the whole kit. The cogs on the white part of the agitator look in good condition. I appreciate your advise.

John, You will not want to remove the tabs but you can try to get a rope between the 2 pieces and use that as leverage to pull the agitator apart.

Hello Angela! You'll want to remove the complete agitator WPW10110020 and inspect the splines inside of it. If you notice they are stripped, you'll need to replace the agitator. Thanks!
