The Whirlpool armature is an OEM replacement part responsible for facilitating the motor's rotation and transferring power to the mixer's various attachments. The armature consists of a core and windings, which interact with the motor's stator to create a rotating magnetic field. As electricity flows through the windings, it generates a magnetic field that causes the rotor to turn, driving the mixer's beaters, whisk, or other attachments.

My mixer has been away for 2yrs Ive decided to repair it myself. It will not start. I replaced Motor Brushes, Speed Control Plate, Phase Control Board. I'm still without power. I checked power source with voltage regulator and I have power through all new parts, what could be the problem, and should I replace all electrical parts. Im freakin out.

Mr Watson, The first thing you will want to do is make sure that the brushes are in properly. There is a certain orientation that they have to be in when installed. Also, you will want to make sure that the control plate is set properly and if it is then you would most likely need to replace the control plate.

Bd January 12, 2022 for Model Number KSM103

Our mixer has been rattling a bit on the inside so I took it apart. It looks like the worm gear is a little worn. Can I buy that part individually or do I have to buy the entire Armature? Also, it looks like the bearing is not available (Part #16)...does it come with the Armature? Also, I pulled the brushes and did not mark them. How can you tell the proper orientation and do they have a specific side of the motor they go on? Thanks!

I replaced the armature, motor assembly, brushes, speed control and phase control due to a burnt motor. It runs good on low speed 1 to 4. From 6 and up speed does not change and slower than it suppose to be. I adjusted the speed control, took apart twice but still same. I am seeing that the armature is 220V. Could this be the problem. Any suggestions

Red April 04, 2020 for Model Number KSM5PSGR

After changing the governor and reassembling the mixer, it started to make a grinding noise with a burning smell. I checked all the gears and could not find and debris inside the mixer. After several attempts, I finally ran the mixer with all gears out to watch the motor run. It runs but can hear a squealing noise. What could have caused the armature to start this noise?

Red, did you by chance remove or disturb the motor brushes WPW10380496? They have to be installed a certain way, or they won't seat properly and can make noise and "drag" on the armature. Then check the wiring for the governor then recheck and adjust the speed plate.

Our mixer has started to run hot and doesn't have the power it did in the past (it is 24 years old). I checked the brushes and they look good but I figured I'd get you opinion before I take it apart and have a look inside. My guess is that the motor is just worn out due to age.???

Scott, To be that old if you have never changed the brushes it would be a good idea. Another possibility is that the grease needs to be replaced. Make sure all the old grease is removed before replacing. Part # for the motor brushes is WPW10380496 and is sold individually. The grease is part # W11200218

Sue, We wouldn't expect the motor armature to be the issue, not without other noise or operational complaints. You may want to start at the pedestal bottom and check for missing foot pads, etc. then check the lower gearcase, pedestal and hinge pin for excess wear and tear allowing the mixer to " obble" from the lift / tilt area of the pedestal.

Hello, my kitchanaid mixer ksm150psgr will no turn on. It was dropped from about 3 feet and it bent the top of the housing a bit but I was able to straiten it out I changed the Phase Control Board and put new grease in it as long as I was monkeying around with it. But nothing...... could it be the armature? I'm pulling my hair out. Do I have to replace the speed control plate? Needs some serious help here.

Hello Mary. You will need to check and see if the brushes WPW10380496 were damaged and check the armature.

KitchenAid Classic Mod# K45SS Two questions; I'm having trouble pulling the armature. I have all of the rear parts and governor off, but it still won't come out. What else could be holding it in? I see there are two armatures listed in the parts list. How do i know if mine's the one that's still available? Thanks, phil

Phil, The armature for 120 vac unit is part number W11133634. The other armature is for international models. You will want to make sure that there is nothing holding the armature in the front and once you have everything loose it may take a little effort to get it out as the magnets will cause it to stick in place.
