The Whirlpool armature is an OEM replacement part responsible for facilitating the motor's rotation and transferring power to the mixer's various attachments. The armature consists of a core and windings, which interact with the motor's stator to create a rotating magnetic field. As electricity flows through the windings, it generates a magnetic field that causes the rotor to turn, driving the mixer's beaters, whisk, or other attachments.

The mixer armature can fail due to wear and tear from regular use, overheating, or electrical issues. Prolonged operation, overloading the mixer, or power surges can also contribute to armature damage.

Symptoms of a bad mixer armature include:

  • The mixer not turning on or stalling during use
  • Unusual noises such as grinding or humming
  • Sparks or smoke coming from the motor
  • Inconsistent mixing speeds or power fluctuations

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Ram, The model number you supplied is a K/A Mixxer, not a Blender. The brushes WPW10380496 could be the issue, but not likely at this point. With the machine inoperative and no odors, you may want to start at the power cord and check to see if there is an issue there or at the outlet. From the cord, you'll want to check or replace the control plate WPW10119326 and or the control board WPW10325124.

I have successfully taken apart my mixer. I checked the mechanical parts and gears, gaskets and everything looks okay. The color of the grease looks OK as well, but the motor does not turn on when the mixer is plugged in. When doing a electrical continuity check (using a voltmeter) on the red and white wires going to the motor, the voltmeter indicates that there is NO CONTINUITY across these wires. To me, that means the motor is burnt out (shorted) and needs to be replaced. Do you agree? If so, do I ONLY need to replace the Armature & Bearing Assy (part # 9708315) in order to get the motor to turn on, or do I need to replace another part as well (which is commonly replaced when you have to replace the motor)? Finally, do you recommend a particular type of grease to pack the gears when I put the mixer back together? Thanks for your help.

Hi Richard. Test the two stator coils with an ohmmeter set on low scale. In upper coil, connect one ohmmeter lead to the red wire and the other to the black wire of the coil. If the ohmmeter shows a low resistance reading, the coil is good. Check the other coil in the same way. If the needle on the ohmmeter deflects to zero or there is no deflection, the coil is bad and the stator must be replaced. Field Assy. part # W10870869. Brushes part # WPW10380496 1-ea. You can also test between all individual commutator bars individually with the ohm meter leads. It should remain open (infinity), and not shorted-(0-ohms). Armature - 115 volt domestic armature. Item Number: W11133634 . If there is any curved -burnt open space clearly in between any 2- commutator bars, it will need replaced. Feel the free spin of the bearing. The rear armature bearing comes pressed on only with the armature. The front bearing includes the bracket housing assy. part # WP3180526. The grease is a special blend and is part # W11200218. Thank You.

Hello David. No, this is no mistake. The bearing is NLA separately and has to be ordered with the armature W11133634. Hope this helps.
