This condenser fan blade restores the airflow that carries heat away from the condenser coils and compressor. Replacing a cracked, warped, or loose blade helps your refrigerator remove heat properly so it cools reliably and runs more quietly. What it does

  • Draws room air through the condenser coil and over the compressor to dissipate heat
  • Helps maintain stable cabinet temperatures and overall cooling performance
  • Typical failure symptoms: fan not spinning or moving enough air, wobbling or rattling from the rear base, weak cooling, compressor running hot
What's included
  • 1 condenser fan blade
Install notes
  • Unplug the refrigerator and remove the rear lower access panel before servicing
  • Note the blade's orientation; pull the old blade straight off the motor shaft and press the new blade on until fully seated
  • Ensure proper clearance in the shroud and spin by hand to confirm it turns freely
  • Wear gloves and eye protection; keep hands clear of the blade during testing

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Condenser Fan Blade (Refrigerator) (Part Number: OEM18016728)

Hello Gary, You should remove the rear wall of the freezer to observe the frost pattern. If the frost is only at the top or where the Freon lines enter the freezer evaporator compartment, the issue will be a low Freon charge. If the frost is only on top of the evaporator coils, the issue will be air circulation and the evaporator fan motor and damper should be checked. If the frost begins in the center or bottom of the evaporator coils, you will have a sealed system restriction. Any issue pertaining to the sealed system will require a Freon certified technician due to the laws concerning the handling of Freon set forth by the EPA.

Joanne, It's not likely the evaporator fan is the issue, but it is a good possibility. Open the freezer and check the back wall for a build up of frost or ice on the back wall. This indicates a defrost issue, and that could cause poor air circulation to the refrigerator. Then remove the grille cover 67003900 from the control box in the back of the refrigerator and check to see if the auto damper WPW10196393 or damper door isn't stuck closed. If you remove the front kickplate grille cover you should find the tech data sheet attached to the bottom of the refrigerator, in a plastic bag. You can then program the control into the test mode and check the components for operation

Hello Al. No, they are not reversable. The blade pulls off the shaft of the old fan and presses onto the shaft of the new fan.
