Bill A. August 15, 2015 for Model Number GB2FHDXWQ05 I came home one day and my refrigerator had completely defrosted and I lost everything in the freezer. I was only away from it for about 12 hours, what could have happened? It had started running and was cooling again.
1 Answer Hello Bill, I would first check for a loose wall outlet. If the unit plugs in firmly, you will most likely need to replace the control board WPW10503278. Read More...
Troy July 26, 2015 for Model Number GX5SHDXVB00 A couple of weeks ago the freezer iced up solid on the coils. The refrigerator was not cooling. I unplugged it and allowed all the ice to melt. The drain worked fine. Today the refrigerator was not cooling and noticed a fluffy ice in the freezer and on the evaporator coils. Everything melted quickly with a hair dryer. No solid ice.
1 Answer Hello Troy, This is a defrost issue. It can be caused by the defrost bi-metal WPW10165425, defrost heater WP67002493, or the control WPW10503278. Read More...
Michael B July 24, 2015 for Model Number ASD2627KES Refrigerator will not cool. Freezer cools well. I checked the damper unit and the flapper is constantly closed. I replaced the damper unit and no difference. I checked the thermostat and it makes no difference. Do you think I should replace the control board?
1 Answer Michael, With the thermistor and damper checking ok then the most likely cause for this issue will be caused by a faulty control board WPW10503278. Read More...
Troy July 19, 2015 for Model Number AFD2535DEW This is a refrigerator with French doors with bottom freezer. The freezer stopped freezing and the upper fridge stopped being cool. I have a small fan in the back that runs all the time. From time to time you can hear the refrigerator want to kick something on but it doesn't.
1 Answer Troy, The most likely cause for the unit not cooling but sounding like it is trying to kick on, the issue would be caused by a faulty start relay W10613606. If this part is replaced and the units compressor still does not come on and continues to make the same noise then the compressor is faulty and would need to be replaced. The compressor part number is W10160407. Read More...
Michael N. May 19, 2015 for Model Number W10503278 I replaced the jazz board on a Whirlpool french door refrigerator. Now no indicator lights are on the front control. I've checked the molex connection, what else would do that? I even put back the one board, but still no lights.
1 Answer Hello Michael, You may have a bad connection or a harness issue. For a more detailed diagnosis, please re-post with the model number from the units' I.D. tag. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...

Pete R May 05, 2015 for Model Number GX2FHDXVq02 I am installing the board but the model plate is missing. How can I know the code if the model plate is missing.
1 Answer Pete, The model tag should be on the inside wall of the refrigerator right side wall. Unfortunately if the model tag is not there we would not be able to assist with locating it. You may need to contact the manufacturer. Read More...
Marylu April 14, 2015 for Model Number MFF2258VEB6 I have a Maytag French door refrigerator, freezer on the bottom . The both top and bottom are getting cold, but freezer is not freezing.
1 Answer Marylu, You will want to pull the rear wall in the freezer compartment and check the evaporator coils. The evaporator coils should have a full even frost pattern from top of coils to the bottom. If the coils do not have a even frost pattern and are impacted with frost then the issue will be with the defrost system. If there is very little frost on the coils and just a little or none at the top then this would be either a restriction or leak in the sealed system. Also make sure that the condenser coils are clean and the condenser fan motor is running. Read More...
Trebark March 31, 2015 for Model Number GB2FHDXWS04 whirlpool gold bottom freezer Evaporator fan isn't getting voltage... freezer works doesnt cool the refrigerator because the fan isnt working.. why. thanks and I I I have checked out or replaced... control board, door switch, condenser fan replaced. Are are ok. But .. can't figure out why fan is not working, i did not check the switch to the freezer though.
1 Answer Trebark, You will want to access the control board and using a multimeter set to VAC, chec for 120 vac from pin 1 on the J1 connector which is white wire, to pin 8 on the J2 connector which is Blk/Red. If there is 120 vac present at this point but no voltage to the fan motor then the issue will be caused by faulty wiring. You will also want to check the thermistor to make sure that it has a resistance reading of 10K ohms at 77 degrees, 29.5K ohms at 36 degrees and 86.3K ohms at 0 degrees. If out of tolerance it is bad and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Scott February 16, 2015 for Model Number GX5FHTXVY09 freezer frosting up not on the bottom on the back wall to the point it pushes the drawer forward and interferes with the doors
1 Answer Scott, We attempted to send you some illustrated information and technical information to help diagnose the refrigerator, but it was returned as not deliverable. Based on the post you'll need to check the shelves and baskets to make sure there's nothing blocking the doors or drawer from closing and sealing properly. Then use the tech data sheet (located behind the kick plate grill, in the plastic bag and program the control into the forced defrost cycle and see if the problem is in the defrost components or the control board.
