The Light Bulb is an OEM part for Whirlpool microwaves. It provides illumination within the microwave cavity, enhancing visibility so you can monitor your cooking without opening the door. This feature is essential for convenience and to ensure proper cooking, as it helps to prevent heat loss and maintain the microwave’s energy efficiency.

Symptoms of a bad Light Bulb include:

  • The microwave interior remaining dark despite the appliance being in use.
  • Flickering or inconsistent lighting when the microwave is operating.
  • The bulb not turning on, indicating it may be burnt out or there is a connection issue.

Causes of a bad light bulb can include filament wear out due to prolonged use, damage from moisture or grease exposure inside the microwave, or electrical surges that can shorten the bulb's lifespan.

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models, ensuring it fits a wide range of microwave models.

Bob, the bulb W10709921 is a 25-watt halogen bulb. When installing this type of bulb, a rubber glove or such is needed as the oils from the hand can leave a residue that can cause the bulb to retain heat and wear out significantly faster. Another thing that can impact these bulbs is how often they are turned on and for how long. If the bulb is left on for a long period of time, this can cause it to wear out quickly as well.
