This agitator cam is the replacement cam that fits under the washer agitator to engage the transmission and help transfer motion. Replacing a worn or broken cam restores secure agitator engagement for reliable washing action. What it does:

  • Locks the agitator to the drive so the agitator oscillates and reverses during wash cycles
  • Replaces a damaged or worn cam that can cause the agitator to slip, spin freely, or fail to agitate
  • Works with the agitator assembly and dogs to maintain proper drive engagement
  • Restores proper mechanical linkage between the agitator and the washer transmission
What's included: One agitator cam (1 piece) Install notes:
  • Disconnect power and water supply before beginning any repair
  • Remove the agitator, inspect agitator dogs and splines for wear, and replace if needed
  • Install the cam into the agitator and reassemble in reverse order of removal following the OEM service instructions
  • After reassembly, run a short test cycle to ensure the agitator engages and functions correctly

For Whirlpool Agitator Cam (Single) (Part Number: OEM9416526)

Dennis George for Model Number Kenmore Washer 110.20992992 Bought in 2001

Agitator is 'lazy.' Can turn in both directions when washer is not in operation. Can only turn clock wise when in operation. Pushing down on agitator when in operation I get a positive and forceful agitation motion. Thinking agitator dogs are worn out, but with a machine this old is it worthwhile to replace entire agitator or maybe the Cam-Kit. ?? This machine has needed zero service since purchased 19 years ago! Thanks

Joe for Model Number Kenmore 22902100

Kenmore 90 series top load Model 22902100. I can't access the agitator bolt because the cam is in the way. The center portion shows the top of the bolt but the center portion of the cam blocks it all except the tip of the silver bolt. The piece seems to misaligned, the notches don't match up. Are their alternate ways that bolt comes off? or alternate ways the cam comes out? The bottom appears exactly in the video. I can't access this clutch without getting to the bolt first. I can see the dogs are worn too.

Joe, You have a "spring loaded" agitator cam, You will need a 1/2 drive extension to remove the cam assembly and dogs, then you can remove the agitator bolt, and lower agitator, and remove the gearcase to replace the clutch. The agitator Cam Repair Kit for your washer is 285810, sounds like you'll need it, but when you enter the part number into the AppliancePartsPros.com parts order screen, there is a video attached to the part diagram which will show you the procedure. Thanks

Hello Barb. Once you remove the agitator bolt, it should just lift out of the unit.

Bernie, Based on the parts diagram and basic service manual, you do have an agitator bolt WP358237 (358237) and the basic instructions state " The surgilator Agitator is removed by first pulling off the agitator cap and inner cap. Then unscrew the 7/16" bolt found under the cap and pull straight up on the two piece agitator assembly. The clutch and clutch dogs that provide the Surgilator action are found in the upper portion of the agitator assembly." Perhaps the bolt is partially coverred with softner or soap residue, or something else.

Hello! You can remove the top dispenser/cap 285975. There will be a bolt down in the center of the agitator. You can remove that bolt and the lift up on the agitator. The whole assembly will pull out when that bolt is removed. Hope this helps!
