Main electronic control board that manages the oven's user interface, timers and heating cycles. Replacing a failed board restores display and control functions so the appliance responds correctly to commands. What it does:

  • Controls the oven's user interface, clock/timers and cycle selection.
  • Sends signals to heating elements and relays to start and stop cooking cycles.
  • Restores display readouts and keypad/touchpad responsiveness when the original board fails.
  • Common symptoms include a blank or unresponsive display, non-working keypad, or ovens that won't start or complete cycles.
What's included: Includes: 1 electronic control board. Install notes:
  • Disconnect all power at the breaker or unplug the appliance before beginning any service.
  • Handle the board carefully to avoid static discharge or damage to connectors; do not touch exposed circuitry.

Ken, you can remove power to the range, disconnect the wires from the gas valve terminals and check for a "closed" circuit across the terminals using a multimeter. Then reattach the wires, place the meter leads on the terminals of the safety valve, set the multimeter to read AC voltage, restore power and select a baking temp. and start the cycle. You should read 3.2 to 3.6 VAC across the terminals if the igniter is working properly. It should only be a matter of seconds for the voltage to reach 3.2 to 3.6 VAC, The longer it takes to reach the voltage, the weaker the igniter circuit resistance and the igniter will need to be replaced. Thanks

Ken, being a gas "slide-in" range and based on your description, the most likely issue is a weak bake burner igniter 74007498 / 74007498 Oven Igniter. A weak igniter can and will cause the safety valve to operate intermittently if the proper amperage and voltages aren't achieved during the burner ignition process. You might also have an issue with the 12001655 / 12001655 Oven Temperature Sensor, but that is less likely than a weak igniter at this point. Thanks,

My Oven will light and heat up. Sometimes it makes the set temperature sometimes it does not before it shuts off. The LCD remains normal. (clock still working, timer still going if set). Its as if someone walked by and hit "cancel" on the keypad. I can fire it right back up and it will start heating again.....and typically will randomly shut off again within 5-10 mins. It will fire up again if I go and rest the temp set point as if I was just beginning to cook. What do I need?

Slyfox, There are a couple of possibilities and you will have to do some testing to be sure of the issue. You can test at the control for 120 vac from the connector P2 pin 3 and ST1 pin 3 after bake is pressed. If you lose voltage here during the bake cycle then the control is bad. WP8507P229-60. You can also test at the gas valve with an amp meter and you will be looking for 3.2 to 3.6 amps at the valve. If the igniter is good you will find that amp draw continuous and you will replace the gas valve. If the amp draw is not within range then the igniter would be replaced.

Richard, You will want to push in on the oven light switch to see if the light goes off when pushed in. It may be that the oven door is not closing properly which would cause the light to stay on. If the light goes out when you push on the switch then this would be the case. It may also be a defective light switch rather than the control board. If the light switch checks ok and when you push in on the switch the light stays on then the control would be the problem.
