Robert Y February 24, 2015 for Model Number DE408 I have a thermostat that has failed (fell apart into two pieces). When looking at the dryer it is the one to the right. Parts location drawing shows the one to the right as part# 3-3391. The parts list shows two thermostats AP4290686 and AP4290671. Which one is equivalent to 3-3391? The original part does not have a part number on it.
1 Answer Robert, you have options you can install the WPY304475 cycling thermostat it cycles open at 140 dgrs. Or you can install WPY304474 cycling thermostat which cycles open at 150 dgrs. either one will work in your machine. In the old days most servicers installed the 150 dgr. thermostat, for a slightly better performance. Read More...
Mike February 16, 2015 for Model Number DE512 How can I test the thermostats to determine if I need to replace or not? the heating element is definitely broken and needs replacing. When it happened, I heard intermittent clicking sounds from inside the unit. this was with the door open. i checked continuity and the HiLimit Stat and 304472-2 read fine. when I check 304475-2 (this is a 3 terminal stat) I get a good reading going from both bottom terminals (blue wire to purple) but I dont get continuity going from the the orange terminal (top) to purple. Does this mean it is faulty? thank you, Mike
1 Answer Mike, The thermostat in question sounds like it is reading correctly. Once the temperature gets to a certain point the 2 terminals that you have continuity through would then no longer have continuity and there would be continuity on the orange to purple at that time. Read More...

Vincent January 30, 2014 for Model Number dg409 Temperature seems to be the same wether low temp switch,or hi temp.button is pushed.always stays at low temp. setting and doesn't always advance timer motor.Cycling thermostat problem?
1 Answer Vincent, The cycling thermostat is a good place to start, but you also need to check the exhaust vent and hood for possible clogs and restrictions. Also check the drum seals. at this stage, we wouldn't be surprised if they have holes worn in them and are allowing the heated air to escape from the drum, causing a heat issue that will not allow power to the timer motor and advance the timer. Jim B. July 04, 2011 for Model Number DG612 First part of cycle seems normal. Burner lights and stays on for a while. But later in the cycle, the igniter glows bright, but burner does not light (gas valve not opening?). This happens several times. And there is no heat to dry the clothes. Where is the problem? Which thermostat or control?
1 Answer Hello Jim! It sounds like the secondary coil has went out in your dryer. It is suggested to replace all coils at the same time. Your coil kit is part number 12001348. Thanks! Read More...
