The Whirlpool Dispenser Assembly is an OEM component specifically designed for Whirlpool dishwashers. It houses the mechanisms that dispense detergent and rinse aid into the wash basin properly during each cycle.

Causes of a bad dispenser assembly can include clogged or jammed dispenser doors and chutes. Hinges or latches may wear down over years of openings and closings between loads.

Symptoms of a bad dispenser assembly include:

  • Liquid detergent or rinse aid dripping outside the dispenser area
  • Dishes coming out with residue or spots indicating insufficient cleaning
  • The dispenser doors not opening fully or staying shut securely

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Admiral, and select Kenmore models.

Can I just get the dispenser door/cover for this detergent dispenser? It is outright ridiculous that I would have to spend nearly SIXTY DOLLARS just because the little tab on the cover is worn. Heck, I'd probably be better off pulling it off and finding a friend with a 3D printer to fabricate a new one for me. Would be significantly cheaper than replacing an entire assembly for a single worn tab. Either that or I'll just deal with the dispenser no longer closing and just wash the dishes that way.

Jelabarre, Unfortunately, the manufacturer has discontinued the individual repair parts for the detergent/rinse aid dispenser, you would need to order and replace the assembly WPW10224428. We'd suspect a part produced by a 3D printer, would be a bit more of an expense than the dispenser, itself ? If you decide to use the dishwasher, without replacing the detergent dispenser, you may want to select the "light Wash" or "Economy Wash" settings. This will allow you to leave the detergent dispenser door open, and should produce satisfactory results, for normally or lightly soiled articles in the dishwasher.

Jeffrey, The black gasket should come on the dispenser assembly and may have just not been put on the dispenser during production. This may need to be reordered.
