Evie September 10, 2014 I have removed PN 3406107 for testing (the dryer stopped working and i already tested the thermal switch) but I can't find how to actually test this part. The positive is there, but it seems that the negative is inside the housing.... can you tell me a way to test this?
1 Answer Hello Evie. You will need to test the switch for continuity. With door closed, it should read closed and with the door open, it should read open. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Bryanp July 20, 2014 for Model Number LEQ8611LW1 Silly question! I have a faulty door switch (dryer previously ran when the door was open, but now won't run at all neither open nor closed. I know this is the problem based on how the light behaves as well. The problem is...on my particular model, I can't figure out how to get the lid off? It doesn't appear to have clips in the front, and the control panel also doesn't seem to be releasable. It looks like I can disassemble the back of the control panel and then maybe make progress that way, but wanted to avoid that if it was not necessary . I have Whirlpool model LEQ8611LW1. Anyone know the specifics on this model?
1 Answer Hello Bryan. You must remove the toe panel and then the 2 screws at the bottom of the front panel and remove the front panel to access and replace the door switch on the unit. Read More...

Brian April 06, 2014 for Model Number wed5500sqo The start button on my dryer has been buzzing for a while but the dryer still turned on every time we pushed it. Now the button buzzes and the dryer doesn't turn on.
1 Answer Brian, Based on the description it sounds like the push to start switch may have failed. You will want to check the thermal fuse on the blower housing for continuity and the door switch for continuity to make sure that they are good. If good then the switch would be the problem. David S February 27, 2014 for Model Number LEQ 9508 pwo Dryer does not run. When you select any cycle the timer ticks, but he dryer does not work. I have replaced a known defective door switch., now if I open the door the ticking stops, ( still no dryer function) The thermal swith( fuse) reads zero ohms with wires disconnected.
1 Answer Hello David. If the door switch is new, and your sure the thermal fuse is good on the unit, then either the motor or the timer is bad on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Carl February 25, 2014 for Model Number GEQ9800PW1 To keep my dryer running I have to place weight against the door. It will start, if I carefully close door then hold start button, but it will not stay running unless the door has some weight held against it, similar to the weight of your hand held against it. What is wrong with the door. Also the light is out. In the beginning of the problem the light was on sometimes, & not at other times. Do I need a door switch assembly, new catch/latch, or springs. What is a Lever Snap Switch?
1 Answer Hello Carl. From what you are describing, it sounds like the door switch Part# WP3406107 will need to be replaced. Read More...
