For Whirlpool Dryer Door Switch (Part Number: OEM18025692)

Carl for Model Number GEQ9800PW1

To keep my dryer running I have to place weight against the door. It will start, if I carefully close door then hold start button, but it will not stay running unless the door has some weight held against it, similar to the weight of your hand held against it. What is wrong with the door. Also the light is out. In the beginning of the problem the light was on sometimes, & not at other times. Do I need a door switch assembly, new catch/latch, or springs. What is a Lever Snap Switch?

Hello Way, This is actually two switches in one. The wire that is on the opposite side of the switch should be the common. Testing from this terminal to the other two connections should show continuity on one and no electrical contact to the other. Activating the switch should reverse the readings, (in other words, the one that had continuity with no resistance should read open and the other will read no resistance).

Brenda, The first thing that you will want to check is the door switch to make sure that it is ok. If it checks ok then you will want to check the thermal fuse on the blower housing. If the thermal fuse is showing open when checking continuity then it is faulty and would need to be replaced and then you would want to check the venting to make sure that there is no blockage.

Robert, Yes the dryer not stopping when you open the door would be caused by a faulty dryer door switch WP3406107, which would need to be replaced.

Bo, You will want to access the back of the unit and test the thermal fuse for continuity. If there is no continuity then you will need to replace the thermal fuse. If the fuse is blown then you will want to check the venting to the outside of the home as this could cause the thermal fuse to blow. Also test the light switch to make sure that it is good. A continuity test can also be done on the light switch.

Hello Rose. You remove the toe panel by releasing the clips with a flat blade. Then remove the screws off the bottom of front panel and pull outward to remove the panel and replace the door switch. Make sure the power is off on the unit.

Gail for Model Number GEW925OPWO

I have a Whirlpool Duet dryer. Everything lights up but the dryer will not start. The motor and the motor control board has been replaced and the dryer still will not start. When you push the start button, you hear a click. The dryer door closes and you also hear a click when you close it. I have ran out of options with the dryer. Also, the thermal fuse has been tested and it is good. Do you think it could be the dryer door part? I really need help here. Thank you, Gail
