Fred October 21, 2012 for Model Number LER6636PWO (WHIRLPOOL DRYER) Getting power to the door switch but dryer will not run. Switch seems to not have any spring tension when manually pressed. Does this mean it is broken and do you think a new switch will solve the problem? Thanks in advance. Fred
1 Answer Hello Fred. Test and see if the switch reads closed when the door is closed. If not, replace the door switch WP3406107. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Bob October 20, 2012 for Model Number DGEQ9800PW1 How do I change the door switch? I just watched a video showing how to change a lesser expensive version of the dryer. I know how to change that switch as I worked for Whirlpool appliances until retiring 10 years ago. I am guessing the top comes up but because of the cost of these appliances I don't want to risk damaging the top. Thanks for your help. GEQ9800PW1
1 Answer Hello Bob, The model number you provided came up as invalid. I modified it a bit so it this isn't a GEQ9800PW1, please let us know by re-posting and we will do this thing right. Before beginning, please flip the breaker off so you don't get a shock. As a model number GEQ9800PW1, the bottom panel will be removed and when the two screws in the bottom of the upper panel is removed, the upper panel will pivot up and the clips will release. Please let us know if we mis-interpreted the model number, since I know that if we guessed wrong, the procedure is most likely different. Read More...
Stoli June 22, 2012 for Model Number 11062722100 Know how to remove the switch but having problem getting it to pull apart......help please
1 Answer Stoll. You may need a small flat blade screw driver, to press on the connector lock on the harness connector in order to separate the wires from the switch harness, or you can also pry the connector apart, if needed. They can be very difficult at times, but you'll get it. Thanks Read More...
Lee B. May 08, 2012 for Model Number RES7745RQ0 My harness has only 2 wires. The new switch has a 3 wire harmess. It will not work. What do I do to make it work?
1 Answer Hello Lee, The switch you received has the extra terminal for a light if the unit had been so equipped. Since it didn't, you hook the wires to the terminals which read open when the switch is open and reads closed when you actuate the switch (close it). The other terminal doesn't need anything on it for the unit to operate properly. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Steve. No, if the door switch WP3406107 is bad, the dryer does not run. It does not control the heat of the unit. Read More...
Rob T April 23, 2012 for Model Number wed5200vq0 I have a whirlpool dryer the light comes on an make a clicking sound but nothing else happens. The drum does not move.
1 Answer Hello Rob. You will need to test the thermal fuse WP3392519 and the door switch WP3406107. They should read closed for continuity with the door closed for the door switch. If either is bad, the dryer will be dead except the light. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Robert L. April 19, 2012 for Model Number 7MLGR4634PTO This is a follow-up to my previous question about checking the door switch. The dryer is not coming on,will this fix the problem or do I need to check the start button switch? And does this model have a biscuit knob? Thank You..
1 Answer Hi Robert. I would use the digital capacitor Tester / Volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1. Remove the back and check the blower housing thermal fuse that commonly opens under a vent restriction and the outside vent cap kept open with lint on the hinges. If this fuse part # WP3392519 is open, it will not run. Thank You. Read More...
