Cal February 02, 2017 for Model Number LER7646EQ0 Power to dryer and light and control dial work, but motor seems to have stopped. Could it be an internal fuse or the motor?
1 Answer Hello Cal. You will need to check the thermal fuse and the door switch on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Samh January 06, 2017 for Model Number Whirlpool I replaced the high-limit thermostat on my Whirlpool dryer--simple enough, but when I cut it on it just shut off....no light when I open the door--did I somehow blow another fuse?
1 Answer SamH, First check and make sure both breakers/fuses are reset and you have 220 VAC at the wall outlet and the terminal block on the back of the dryer. Then check the door switch circuits and wires. You didn't supply a model number, but the basic wiring diagram indicates; the L2(red wire) is a "direct" link to the element, and terminal block, through the heat switch on the motor, and only affects the heater element. L1(black wire) supplies power to the drum light, and the circuit is completed through the door switch to the neutral leg(whit wire). You'll also need to check for L1 power to the timer. There are no fuses in the L1 circuit(except to the motor) but that wouldn't affect the drun light or power to the timer. Repost your question and include a model number Please, we can review the diagram and make a more proper diagnosis and help direct you to other possibilities. Thanks, Read More...
David F December 28, 2016 for Model Number 11096562500 Is there a compatible dryer thermal and cut off kit for the Kenmore 11096562500? Combo kit with connector replacement, since the old one melted. I saw a kit for $25, but did not find dryer part number in the cross reference. Bought separately would be around $58. Figured I had to replace both since there was fire damage.
1 Answer David, There is not a thermal cut off kit for this model and you would need to get the thermal cutoff WP8573713 and the high limit thermostat W11050897. Read More...
Pegann4u December 27, 2016 for Model Number MED7500yw Maytag My dryer is not heating the repair company says it is a blocked vent. I can feel the air blowing through the vent. They replaced the cut off switch(not both components) and it blew almost immediately. I read that the cutoff switch should be replaced as a "kit". Do you think its a short?
1 Answer Pegann4u, It would be recommended to replace the thermal fuse as the kit but a restricted vent, even though air is coming out, could cause this issue to occur. Read More...
Jeff December 17, 2016 for Model Number WED6200SW1 I purchased the 279816 thermal cutoff kit and im trying to install the new thermostat. My thermostat has an extra connections with two wires going to the thermostat. Where do I connect this group of two wires too?
1 Answer Jeff, From the control board there will be a red wire that comes from the control board that will go to the thermal cutoff, then there will be a red wire white stripe that goes between the thermal fuse and the hi limit thermostat, then from the high limit there will be a red wire that goes to the element. Gregory November 29, 2016 for Model Number Kenmore 91122 My dryer is 18 months old. Last night I changed and outlet and mistakenly placed the black wire on brass, white on neutral, and ground on white. When I plugged this dryer into the wall, I heard a pop and the dryer does not work. I opened the rear panel, no wires are burnt or frayed, please help identify the parts i should replace before trying to make this dryer work again.
1 Answer Hello Gregory, You will have to test all electrical parts on the unit. Motor, timer, fuses, and all. Anything could have been damaged with that issue. Make sure the breaker is on also for the outlet. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Ben November 22, 2016 for Model Number MEDC200XW1 My dryer turns on, drum rotates, blower works but about 60% of the time no heat is generated. I usually stop it and open the door, rotate the timer a few times, repeat start, repeat process and eventually it heats up and drys properly. I have recently replaced the element but problem persist. Suggestions on what to replace next?
1 Answer Ben, It sounds like the contacts in the timer may be sticking and causing the unit to not heat sporadically. This would require the timer to be replaced. Read More...
Jane November 15, 2016 for Model Number Whirpool LER5636KQO Dryer keeps running and will not shut off. What should I look at or replace?
1 Answer Jane, If the timer is not advancing or advances past the off position then this would be an issue with the timer of the unit. Read More...
Yuri November 15, 2016 for Model Number YLER4634JQ Hello, I found that the thermal cut-off fuse on my dryer is broken. The high-limit thermostat seems OK. The kit which I bought contains both. Can I replace just the thermal cut-off fuse or I need to replace them both? Thanks, Yuri
David November 13, 2016 for Model Number WED5300SQ0 My dryer heats up ,then after 5 minutes its shuts off, after a few minutes it will come back, I have cleaned all the vents, whats next?
1 Answer David, Do you have to turn the unit back on in order to get it running again. If so then the most likely cause for this would be drag on the motor, The rollers and idler pulley would need to be checked to make sure that they are spinning freely with no resistance. If these check ok then check the blower to make sure that there is nothing caught in it. If these things check ok then the motor would be the likely cause for the issue. Read More...
